Not only do you have to deal with only one bill per month- rather than three separate ones- but the company will also discount the cost of its services. Guide to the Canon Camera Flash Terminology

Strobe and Flash.

The main differences between a strobe and a flash are the use of terminology according to UK or US English. In the US, a strobe is a flash unit whereas in UK a strobe refers to anything emitting blinking lights. Another confusion in terms is the between "Speedlight" and "Speedlite". Both are trade names of Nikon and Canon respectively used for their series of flash units.

Guide Number

The maximum distance which a flash unit can reach with its flash pulse is known as the guide number. But if you are using automatic flash metering, this number is not important at all. You will only need to know this number when you are more inclined to do manual settings for your flash.

Exposure value (EV)

Used for determining the sensitivity of the Auto Focus or (AF) system or exposure metering for film types or a lens, the EV or Exposure Value is a combination of both Aperture settings and Shutter speed. The numbers 1/125 and F2 give an EV value of 9 which can also be obtained from F4 and 1/30.

Dedicated or Non dedicated flash units

Dedicated flash units are flash units designed by the Camera manufacturers for their own range of cameras. These flash units can communicate with the camera system allowing for more precision photography. For example Canon manufactured the "speedlite" range of flash units for their EOS cameras. Non dedicated flash units are those flash units usually manufactured by third party manufactures. They normally work the same way on all brands of camera with little or no communications with the camera unit itself.

Shoe Mount

The rectangular slide-in socket which is usually located on top of the mirror or prism housing is known as the shoe mount. This mount is usually used for affixing the external flash unit to the camera. Sometimes it is called a Hot Shoe Mount as it has an electrical trigger to initiate the flash unit once the external flash is fixed to the camera. The Canon EOS Cameras have 4 additional contact points in the shoe mount which helps to transmit flash data from the trigger.

The Redeye Effect

A common occurrence with flash photography is the "Red Eye Effect". This happens when the light from the flash unit is reflected back into the camera from it bounces of the red blood vessels of the eyes. The situation tends to occur in environment with low ambient lighting causing the pupils of the eyes to dilate bigger to allow for more light to enter the eyes.

Redeye Reduction

To overcome the problems of Redeye effects, you can increase the distance between the flash and the lens of the camera. Or you can also reflect the flash light off the walls instead of direct illumination on the subject. An alternative way is to get the subject to look at a bright light just before taking their picture. What this does is to cause the pupils of the eyes to dilate smaller resulting in less reflection from the retina.

Basic guide to the Canon Camera E-TTL flash Metering System

The Evaluative Through The Lens (E-TTL) flash metering system was introduced by Canon with the 1995 Canon Elan II/50 Camera. Although metering is still done through the lens, the E-TTL flash metering systems works completely on different principles to that of the TTL system. It is also not backward compatible. The system works by firing a pre-flash of calibrated brightness from the main flash unit to ascertain the correct flash exposure. The system measure the Pre- flash light reflected from the scene and then recalculates the correct flash pulse to achieve the proper mid tone on the subject matter.

As mentioned earlier, the E=TTL system is more advance than that of the TTL or A-TTL system because of its algorithms. With better algorithm programming, the system is fill flash daylight pictures more efficiently. Apart from this, the E-TTL system is coupled to the auto focus point and this result in better and finer grained pictures than even those multi points TTL flash systems. Currently all late modeled Canon EOS film cameras support the E-TTL system. The digital range of camera adopted the E-TTL system after the Canon D30 was introduced. How the order of operation of the E-TTL system is as listed below:

First, the ambient light metering process takes places once the shutter button is depress halfway. The user or camera determine the aperture size and shutter speed depending on what mode the camera is running under. After that, when you depress the shutter button all the way down, the camera fires a pre-flash from the flash unit. The reflected light from the scene is then calculated by the metering system to establish the correct power output for the main flash burst in order to get the right exposure level.

If the photo taking session is taking place under bright lighting conditions, then the auto filled reduction process will work to reduce the flash output from a range of 0.5 to 2 stops. The camera's mirror then turn over to expose the digital sensor or film. At the same time, the shutter remains open to expose the sensor or film during the duration of the shutter run. After the shutter closes, the mirror will revert back to its original position. If the camera has a warning light to confirm the flash exposure, it will then glow.

The main drawback of the E-TTL system is that the pre-flash will cause those who blink quickly to be photographed while in mid blink. The predicament gets worse when you use the second curtain sync with a slow shutter speed. To get around this problem, you can after firing the pre-flash wait a short while before commencing the main flash burst. It would be wise to forewarn the subjects that you are just firing a pre-flash so that they will not assume the actual picture has been taken.

Comcast Re-engineers Cable TV For The 21st Century

Switched Digital Video has shown up just in time because of the surge of interest in HDTV programming and the rampant competition among TV service providers to deliver the most High Def channels to their subscribers. Under the older transmission method- the "shotgun approach"- HDTV channels were extremely difficult to deliver because of the fact that they are up to ten times more data intensive than normal TV and video can only be compressed so much. The bandwidth required to transmit the number of HDTV channels that viewers will soon demand would have crippled a cable system of the past, but thanks to Comcast's implementation of Switched Digital Video technology, the bandwidth requirements of HDTV will be irrelevant. It can be fun experimenting with different clays to find one that works best for your needs. Your final firing temperature is also a factor. Porcelain is typically fired to 2350 degrees Fahrenheit, and low fire clays are fired to about 1900 degrees.

The majority of piano companies began in foreign countries, such as Japan or Germany. Baldwin Pianos, however is a 100% American company, founded right here in the US.

From Humble Beginnings In 1862, a music teacher named Dwight Hamilton Baldwin began a small retail company in Cincinnati. The Baldwin company sold pianos and organs, but at the outset, was only for retail. However, all that changed in 1973 when Baldwin formed a partnership with one of his employees, Lucien Wulsin. Together, the two men expanded the company, setting up little shops in various cities.

By 1980, the partners weren`t satisfied with simply selling other manufacturers` instruments and began to design and plan their own. A year later, the first Baldwin upright piano appeared on the market and four short years later, they had also come out with a grand piano.

Moving On In 1899, both Baldwin and his wife died. They left their share of the company, 80%, to a church, but it was quickly bought up by Baldwin`s business partner, Lucien Wulsin. Under his leadership, the Baldwin Piano Company thrived and a year later, a Baldwin grand piano garnered the Grand Prix award.

Despite the fact that radio appeared and the Great Depression hit causing many piano stores to go bankrupt, Baldwin not only managed to continue on thanks to an emergency fund that had been gathering for years, the company actually began to do sound research. Once World War II ended, the economy was robust and Baldwin found itself in the middle of a rush of orders for organs and pianos. Churches were looking for new musical instruments after years of frugality and people wanted pianos in their own homes. It was an excellent time to be one of the few piano manufacturers that had made it through the Depression.

As time progressed, the company moved production further south, establishing factories in Arkansas and Mississippi before moving down into Mexico where costs were cheaper. New electronic organs were being produced now, as well and the company was doing very well. But it wouldn't last for long.

In 1961, Lucien`s grandson, Lucien Wulsin III, took over the company from his father, Lucien Wulsin II. It would mark the beginning of a roller coaster ride for the small business that nearly ended in bankruptcy in 2001. Despite this, Baldwin pianos has bounced back and today is stronger than ever. Improve Your Carp Baits And Catch More Big Summer Fish!

You can improve your catches instantly by taking the step of trying new things, trying new combinations of things you may already know work and trying things you do not know work or not. Remember it is the things that carp have never regularly experienced previously that mostly catch those dream catches you hope for, so here's a few perhaps familiar and unfamiliar tricks you might try with your baits to stimulate your catch rate! Soak your baits in a dip; whether meat, nuts or particle baits, pellets, boilies dips and bait soaks work!

Oil rich dips and those rich in amino acids are outstanding and can come from simple homemade sources like tinned tuna oil mixed with liver pate and garlic salt for instance. Or maybe try shrimp paste with diluted fruit cordial juice and yeast extract; you do not need to spend a fortune on readymade dips or soaks etc. Don't boil your hook baits; steam them instead to allow far more nutritional attraction and stimulation to release into the water instead of being sealed inside and largely wasted!

Paste or dough is great used as a coating around all kinds of other hook baits. With paste you know there is no barrier from boiled protein as with conventional boilies that prevent most of your baits attraction from reaching the fish to stimulate them into feeding! Among the items around the kitchen to use are tinned salmon, tuna, herring, mackerel, anchovies and pilchards which can all be made into paste with added eggs and wheat flour to bind; it's simple but works!

Many readymade baits have a surface which does not maximise their fish attraction in the water and it is important to break their surfaces to achieve far more takes. By making a boilies or pellets surface more irregular you can improve attraction leakage from the centre of the bait and fool fish into thinking your bait is safe, having previously been tested by other fish chewing on it! Using sharp scissors, knife or baiting needle you can easily improve the catch potential and attraction of your baits!

I bet you never tried coating all your free baits with paste as well as your hook baits. You could try fishing a red fish meal hook bait with a pink liver paste or a meat based bait with a fish based paste; just experiment with colours, flavours and any kind of baits together! Even coating particle baits like smaller pellets or tiger nuts with paste is very worth doing!

Making the leap of faith and trying coating pop-up buoyant baits with paste is a very good edge indeed and extremely well proven! The pop-up or semi-buoyant hook bait has no need to be like the paste around it and in fact the more alternative your paste is the better. Coating pop-up baits with paste is a great edge which is little-used by the majority of carp anglers and as you can see, these things just take a little lateral thinking utilising what we are already using.

Many ingredients can be added to a paste or dough to make it buoyant or float and cork dust or granules are one example. Fish can be fooled into taking buoyant baits because they counter-act the weight of the hook and rig material among other beneficial effects. I've caught many big fish by using this approach but using buoyant paste hook bait wraps and often fish can come surprisingly quickly to this method!

You might liquidise your readymade baits and mix with eggs and a little wheat flour or other glue-like ingredients (caseins and caseinates are extremely effective containing high protein levels.) This way you can fish a conventional bait which has an unusual coating which is alternative but different and closely matches your hook bait; there is no doubt about it that fish learn and experiments with goldfish performing tricks using food rewards like dogs shows the 15 second memory is just a myth - carp learn! So do yourself a favour and try being different with your baits especially as it is your the bait that truly hooks your fish and the more you know about bait the more power you will have over your fish!

The following advice will assist you in making loops that can be used by yourself or others in media productions.

1. First, determine what sort of loop you want to create before you record or program it into your DAW, better known as a digital audio workstation. You will either create a background loop such as piano chords or a melody such as a guitar riff.

2. Secondly you will need to record a performance that can then be cut into loops. Either use a microphone to capture a studio performance such as a guitar riff or use a software instrument to capture the playing in MIDI.

3. Thirdly, you may have to use eq to get rid of any offending frequencies that ruin the beauty of the loop you're creating. An awesome flute phrase, for example, could be ruined by a terrible sounding air conditioner hum. However, if you use eq to get rid of the low frequencies you can keep the flute minus the noise.

4. Fourthly, after using your chosen eq and reverb line bounce down a rough sample of the loop played three times in succession. Next, bounce down the middle part piece of the three part rough mix to create your final single loop which has the reverb throughout from start to finish and loops perfectly

5. For video editing purposes, create a loop with a 48k 24bit sample and bit rate in stereo. Libraries and individuals who license your loops with value this format over all other since 48k is ready for use in video editing.

An over-zealous fan of Mr. Incredible, after being inadvertently snubbed by his idol, decides to reek vengeance on all superheroes. He begins to lure unwitting superheroes to his island fortress as fodder for his superhero killing machine. Mr. Incredible, more than eager to get back to the crime-fighting life, accepts a mission to the island to investigate. Little does he know he is being lured to his death.

In the meantime, Helen (Elastigirl) does her best to hold down the home front. She is oblivious to the significance of his business trips (she starts to worry he's been unfaithful) until she notices a tear in her husband's old superhero outfit. Furious that he's put the family in jeopardy, she hops a plane to confront him.

As the jet soars towards the little island, we find out Dash and Violet have stowed away on the plane. Suddenly, the plane is attacked by the nefarious Syndrome. The amazing quality of Kawai pianos stems from the careful dedication of the company to maintaining the impressive sound. It`s a sound that has been described as a blanket of velvet...something that one really must experience personally in order to understand.

In the Beginning Koichi Kawai started the Kawai Musical Instrument Research Laboratory with several other men back in 1927. As a pre-teen, Kawai had been recruited by Torakusu Yamaha as apprentice in his piano workshop. The young man worked hard and was a key factor in the production of many award-winning pianos by Nippon Gakki Co., founded by Yamaha.

Kawai decided to work on his own projects years later, after Yamaha had passed on and the company was in trouble due to a difficult economy. He took 7 co-workers with him and the eight of them formed the new lab.

Kawai`s goal was to create a better piano and his first success was the creation of the very first piano action in Japan. This allowed him to build cheaper pianos, now that it was no longer necessary to import the actions. Within a year, the lab began to turn out upright pianos and then a grand piano.

A Name Change and Expansion In 1929, just two years after the lab had been founded, the name was changed to Kawai Musical Instruments Manufacturing Co. and the business underwent several changes over the following years, including becoming a partnership venture and yet another name change, to Kawai Musical Instruments Manufacturing Ltd.

1930 saw the expansion of the company as they began to produce reed organs. But change was on the horizon.

Pausing for War Like many production factories during World War II, Kawai Musical Instruments Manufacturing, Ltd. left off making pianos during the war to produce much needed aircraft parts for the war effort.

Though the war officially ended in 1945, the Japanese struggled to get back on their feet after devastating losses and it wasn`t until three years later that Kawai Musical Instruments Manufacturing, Ltd. was able to return to the production of musical instruments. It didn`t take long for the business to recover and soon they had over 500 employees and were producing 1,500 pianos per year.

Kawai developed and built his first concert piano, which won the Blue Ribbon Medal of Honor. Just two years later, Koichi Kawai passed away and his son, Shigeru, took over the company, which was now incorporated. He turned the family business into something more modern by updating certain techniques and combining the original handcrafted quality with faster, more modern production.

A Whole New World The younger Kawai was as much an entrepreneur as his father and pushed hard to grow the company. Once the supply outgrew the demand, he came up with a novel idea to promote sales and started the Kawai Academy of Music to train teachers who were then dispatched to teach in Kawai Music Schools across the country. Door to door sales helped boost the demand for their pianos, as well.

He also set up the Kawai Piano Technical Center to turn out trained piano technicians to provide maintenance of purchased instruments. Within a few more years, the company even had its own retail stores that sold pianos and also provided tuning and repair services. Kawai Musical Instruments Manufacturing Co., Ltd. moved into America in 1969 and was soon established there, as well.

1989 saw a third generation take control of the company and Kawai Pianos are still some of the most popular musical instruments in the world. The company continues to produce top quality products and expand into new areas of development on a continual basis.
