Naughty Ecards: Flirting Fun

By Fabian Toulouse

Some people appreciate a little naughtiness in their lives-nothing too overly dirty, but something a little bit risqu that makes them smile. For them, video ecards are a lot of fun. Screamingly funny, irreverent, and sometimes just plain weird, there are some to really tickle your inner playboy (or girl!)

Not all of them are naughty ecards, of course, though there are many of them to keep you snickering for a while as you browse through the selections. One of the funniest simply shows two grown up cupids headlocking a girl and a guy and smacking them together into an embrace on the ground while the victorious cupids do a belly butt in the background. A darker but very funny greeting features a misguided cupid mistakenly employing a rifle instead of a bow and arrow.

These are a hoot to send to someone you love, someone you want to see more ofor someone you just think would enjoy their humor. They are a simple way to stay in touch with people and share a laugh or start up a flirtation. While not always in the best taste-actually, they are rarely in good taste--they are undeniably funny.

You can send all sorts of silly ecards for any occasion. In addition to the funny, naughty daily valentines, you can email get well greetings that may actually make nauseous people vomit, birthday cards for the twisted at heart, clever party invitations, and congratulations for just about any conceivable human milestone-including conception! (Just imagine the bizarre baby announcement possibilities!) Give someone a laugh on either the occasion of their marriage or their divorce. Mess with someone's head, thank them, razz them, beg for forgiveness.

There is nothing you need to communicate that cannot be done with a humorous video greeting! Video ecards are so much fun you will find yourself seeking any excuse to share the fun.

Disney Day 1

Your first stop would obviously be Disneyland. This is the original location of the Disneyland Resort. No doubt you have heard of many wonderful stories from friends that have visited here. With over a million visitors per annual season, one often wonders how he or she managed to wait so long to visit. In here you will find all the legendary attractions that has med Disneyland the famous vacation spot that it has become. There is the famed Indiana Jones Adventure where you ride the rails of an ancient mine railway car at high speeds. There are numerous others, such as the Space Mountain ride, Splash Mountain (for those who don't mind getting a little soggy), the Matterhorn Bobsled ride, and, of course, who could forget the magical castle of fairy tale legend, Sleeping Beauty. There are even particular attractions for the little children, such as the Dumbo the Flying Elephant and It's a Small World attractions.

Disney Day 2

Just a mere few steps away, you will encounter your second day of Disney wonder at the Disney's California Adventure Park. You will be magically wisped away to faraway kingdoms and deep into the heart of distant jungles.

Disney Day 3

On Day three of your Disney adventure vacation, the parents will be the center of attention as well as the children as you check out the Downtown Disney District. Here within a relatively small area, you will find unlimited shopping opportunities. No matter what you are looking to buy, be it clothes, jewelry, or simply something to remember your trip by or a gift for a friend back home, you'll find it in this area. There are also many fine restaurants with some truly scrumptious ethnic foods as well as eateries dedicated to the children. In the midst of all this you'll find a nice little outdoor plaza where you can sit and eat.

Walt Disney truly did have the worlds best interests at heart when he created the concept of Disney World. Today, the culminations of the great artists unending work has paid off with the ultimate vacation spot in the world. Pack up the family this summer and come on down to Anaheim California, where the fairy tale lives on.

Life's A Beach: Anaheim California Shore Life

By Juble.com

Everyone enjoys an awesome beach vacation. There's nothing quite like the experience of building sand castles with the kids, seashell hunting, playing around with the little crabs and splashing in the small waves. Nevertheless, there are some who demand a bit more out of their beach time vacation. The average calm waves and placid sand just isn't enough for some people. They want more from their hard earned vacation time. If you fit into this category, it's time to pack up your surfboard and head to Anaheim California.

Orange County, the home of the city of Anaheim, is known throughout the Western California region as the home of the surfboarders. It is nothing unusual to see surfers from all over the world catching big rolling waves in these waters. What? You say you don't know how to surf? No problem. The beaches of Anaheim will provide you with surf butlers. These are attendants that will ride the waves with you and show you the ins and outs of this adrenaline-pumping pastime.

This is also the home of the United States Open of Surfing, the top rated surfboarding contest in the continental United States. You will see the worlds highest rated surfers meet here once per year to obtain the title of the worlds best surfer. While this event is in town, there are also other extreme sport events held in the area, such as BMX stunt riding and stunt skateboarding, to name a few. These are held at different times each year, but a phone call or a quick Google search will fill in the details.

Huntington Beach, one of several prominent beach lines that make up the more than forty miles of Anaheim seashore, is the surfer's paradise. Here you will not only find the worlds best surfers, but also everything else with the term surf attached to it. There are a multitude of shops that sell beachwear, surfboards, surfing memorabilia, and more. There are even surfer restaurants, diners and caf's along this stretch of beach line. Volleyball is also a popular sport here, but beware. These dudes play for keeps!

Another popular beach front for surfers, particularly those that like to add a little danger to their waves, is Laguna Beach. Here you will find some of the biggest waves around, but you'll also find a few rocky shores spotted between the sandy stretches of beach. Only the true pros dare to surf here. This beachfront does offer other bonuses along with the adrenaline rush. There is the yearly festival of arts, as Laguna Beach is known far and wide as the Artists Beach, the Sawdust Art Festival and the Pageant of the Masters, all artistically oriented occasions held on an annual basis. The food along the Laguna boardwalk is also a large crowd drawer. There are a number of wonderful fine dining establishments in the area, along with lots of shops with a variety of gifts, clothing, and beach items.

If the normal old boring little sissy waves have got you down, and you want a lot more out of your beach front vacation, then you need to give Anaheim a chance to impress you. There is a reason that this is the surf capital of the world!

Fantasia - Disney's Classical Masterpiece

By Steve Collins

Fantasia is the third feature Walt Disney produced and is perhaps the most experimental. The feature has no dialogue, relying instead on a splendid soundtrack performed by the Philadelphia Orchestra conducted by Leopold Stokowski. Though the film is mostly animated, it does have some live-action sequences featuring Stokowski and the Orchestra. Fantasia was also remarkable for being the first major film to be screened in stereophonic sound.

Disney initially screened the film as a two-hour special engagement across the country. It was met with a mixed reception, forcing RKO Radio Pictures, which acquired the rights to distribute the film in 1942, to cut the running time down to roughly 81 minutes. Between 1946 and 1977 the film was reedited, resulting in a version 9 minutes shorter than the 1941 original release. The full version would not be released until the 2000 DVD reissue. By the late 1930s, Mickey Mouse had begun to lose popularity. In fact, Donald Duck was proving to be a more profitable character for Disney at the time. In an effort to reestablish Mickey's dominance, Disney placed his protg in an animated short entitled The Sorcerer's Apprentice. Based on the Goethe's story of the same name, the story artists had intended to feature Dopey from Snow White in the title role, but Disney would have none of that. To that end, Mickey was retouched and given a myriad of new mannerisms, not to mention pupils. All of the retooling cost approximately $125,000, whereas a typical Disney animated short had cost the studio about $40,000.

It was Stokowski who suggested The Sorcerer's Apprentice be incorporated into a full symphony of shorts. Disney was inspired to combine the shorts using the live-action orchestral sequences. In fact, it was Stokowski who suggested the title. A fantasia is a "medley of familiar themes, with variations and interludes." When the short was made into a feature in 1939, Disney's production team shifted into high gear, pouring the same amount of detail and attention into every sequence. The initial success of Snow White inspired Disney to produce a series of animated features. Whereas the gamble gained a tremendous amount of revenue for Snow White, Fantasia suffered from its length and lack of dialogue. It was produced for $2,280,000 with $400,000 of that amount reserved for Stokowski and his orchestra. The dreary returns derailed the emerging studio, forcing Disney to scramble for an audience friendly feature. That feature would be Dumbo.

Digital Photography Revolution

By Fabian Toulouse

Digital photography is a wonderful development for that field. So many of the nuisances of traditional film photography are eliminated with this new medium that more and more people are trying them. Just think-you never have to wait until your film is developed to see if you got any good shots; you never have to be miserly about how many shots you take, and you can experiment with different light settings and see on the spot if your shots are shadowy or washed out. With digital pictures you have the added choices of printing them at home, sending them to friends via the internet, or using an editing program to doctor them up.

The quality of the pictures shot with a really good digital camera are sharp. The computer offers an amazing array of possibilities for cropping, magnifying, and editing your downloaded shots. In addition to being able to print your photographs off at home, you can also design Christmas cards, calendars, posters, and many other items with just as good quality as a professional printer might produce.

The more sophisticated digital cameras can be somewhat mystifying to anyone used to a point and shoot, but do not let that scare you. It is worth the time it takes to learn to use the manual features on your camera. Fun short courses in digital photography can easily be found through distance education programs. Using a combination of DVD's, CD's, and online material, you can learn how to get the most out of your camera as well as how to be a more polished photographer in general. Downloading and editing are also part of the coursework. Distance education is a smart option for anyone with limited time because the lessons can be done in your free time.

Taking amazing pictures with a digital camera is not difficult once you understand it. It is fun to put your camera through its paces, photographing anything that captures your fancy, playing with light and shadow, taking detailed close-ups. Best of all, you can tell at once if the shot was any good. If you are not satisfied with it, erase it! When your memory card is full, just transfer your photos to the computer and start all over again! Once you get used to it, you will never miss your old camera at all.

mp3 Player Nano

By Raymond Sabo

Nano mp3 players, while they still live under the shadow of iPods, and other original mp3 players, are quickly gaining popularity. Nano mp3 players have many of the same features as regular mp3 players, but they are much smaller. Sizing up at an average size of about half of a credit card and thickness close to that of a deck of cards, nano mp3 players are known for their easy portability.

Most people have at least heard of Apple's iPod Nano. There are two different kinds of these. The original iPod Nano was built in 1, 2, and 4GB models. The new iPod Nano, however, is seen in 4 or 8GB, and looks a little different. It comes in more colors, is a different shape (wider and shorter than the first iPod Nano), and has a bigger screen, designed for watching videos. A less known nano player is Creative's Nano Plus, which is available as a 512MB player or a 1GB player, both seen in ten different colors.

The price range for nano mp3 players goes from about $60 to around $200. Creative's Nano Plus 512MB player runs for around $60, and the 1GB player can be found at $75. The original iPod Nano can be found for anywhere from $90 to $130, depending on the storage capacity. The new iPod Nano costs $150 for the 4GB player and $200 for 8GB.

Although nano mp3 players are small in size, they have many of the same features as larger mp3 players. All of the nanos can play music files. In addition to this, however, the new Apple iPod Nanos can store pictures as well as play video files. In fact, they were designed with a screen bigger than that found on the original iPod Nano, specifically for more enjoyable video watching. Although the screens are still smaller than original sized mp3 players, and the storage capacity is limited, many consumers still opt for the nano mp3 players, simply for their easy portability and "cute" looks.

As the world advances in technology, we will definitely see more increases in the quality of mp3 players. In turn, nano players will get smaller. Because people love the easy portability of their small size, they will continue to get even more popular.

Spectacular Spectator Sports to See in Fantastic Fresno

By Juble.com

The incredibly beautiful Save Mart Center located at Fresno State University, is home to concerts, family shows, and most importantly, sporting events. And in Fresno, sports are a great big deal. While you visit Fresno during your vacation, you'll never forgive yourself if you don't make time to take in an event. You have quite a few options to choose from for your spectator enjoyment. It could be basketball, played only the way the Fresno Bulldogs play the game, Fresno Falcons hockey, or you could head over to the Grizzlies Stadium to watch some major league baseball. Football is a favorite pastime in Fresno too; the Bulldog football team has been making quite a name for itself in recent years.

The Save Mart Center Arena: The construction of this luxurious, state of the art event arena broke ground in 2001; the final completion was accomplished in late 2003. The center comprises three levels, consisting of thirty-two luxury suites, eight party suites, and general seating capacity of about 17,000.

The thirteen-story clock tower was constructed in honor of Larry Shehadey, who made a personal donation of three million dollars, toward the funding of the arena. Other donations that helped finance the center were gifted from the Save Mart grocery store chain, and other private organizations and individuals, as well as the Bulldog Foundation.

The Bulldog Walkway is a lasting memorial tribute honoring the memories of past students, friends, and athletes that have graced California State University, and Fresno State with their thoughts and actions. Eventually, the walkway tiles will extend all through the campus.

The largest bronze Bulldog in the world rests his proud head in the Shehadey Lobby. He stands ten feet high, is nine feet long, seven feet wide, and weighs in at 4,200 pounds. The Bulldog fight song is engraved upon the base of the statue, and within the base, there were placed nine time capsules in 2004, each one representing various aspects and memories of the Fresno State University legacy, contributed by staff, alumni, students, and patrons. For all of the Bulldog fans and athletes, pride in themselves; their teams and in their school is the true name of the game. Just read the words on the statue.

"This is our mascot and he ain't no hound. He's an English bull and weighs lots of pounds. He's got two rows of teeth and a terrible frown. Hey, nobody's kicking our dog around!!!"

The Sports Teams: Fresno State University Bulldogs are not the only players in town. There are other talented and enjoyable teams to watch. Including the women's college teams, and the many high school athletic teams.

But the ones that bring in the most revenue for this fine city are these teams, you'll want to keep an eye on them, they are always worth watching.

The Great Disney Movies are also some of the Greatest Movies

By Steve Collins

Almost from its quiet beginnings as an animation company housed in a garage, Walt Disney has been turning out hits. From the squeaky voiced Mickey Mouse to the trendy collection of Disney princesses now taking over the world, Disney has entertained both children and their parents. For the eighth decade running, they are producing blockbusting movies which score at the box office.

Despite the fact that they now hold such companies as Touchstone and Miramax, who produce movies for all ages, Disney's name is still associated with children. Given that the top twenty Disney movies of all time include only a small number of live action movies intended for a wider audience, it is safe to say that Disney's primary audience is the young (or young at heart!)

The love affair began early on with Snow White in 1937, which after seventy years still resides in the #11 spot. Despite her age, Snow White holds her place among the much loved Disney princesses whose number also includes much later heroines. The 1940's brought Dumbo and Bambi, the all time #2 favorite. In fact, all decades are there in the top twenty list. There are the highly favored Cinderella, Sleeping Beauty, and Peter Pan from the 1950's. 1967 brought the cheeky Mowgli in The Jungle Book. The charming Robin Hood from 1973 made it to the #8 spot. The first of the newer, more sophisticated generation of animated feature length films, The Little Mermaid, sits at #4. Many of the huge hits of the 1990's are on the list: Aladdin, which reigns in the top spot, Beauty and the Beast in third, as well as The Hunchback of Notre Dame and The Lion King.

The current decade has turned up the few live action favorites on the list, among them National Treasure, Pirates of the Caribbean, and Remember the Titans. No matter your years, however, a scroll down the list will bring back fond memories as you remember trips to the theater as a child, hours spent in front of the TV as a child watching one special movie obsessively, or time snuggling on the couch as a parent or grandparent sharing a Disney classic for the first time with the child in your life. Disney hits are among the best movies of all times.

DVDs and CDs to Entertain Your Kids

By Elizabeth Murphy

Spring break is on its way and every parent across the nation is asking themselves how they will keep their children occupied and out of their hair for a whole week. Its not that they don't want to spend time with them, it's just that a week of bored kids is nothing short of horrifying. With the high tech world that we live in, there are many ways that we can keep them occupied CDs and DVDs that will give us all a stress free spring break.

One of the best ways to keep a child occupied is to give them a stack of videos and a television. You don't have to be rich to do this however. There are always video rental stores, libraries and of course friends to borrow movies from to build up a great March Break video collection. Does making them sit in front of the TV make you feel like a bad mother? Don't let it! It's not like you do this all the time and its March Break. They need to have a break from life and laze about in front of the television for a little bit too!

If you are still feeling guilty, try and find some educational things to let them watch. The library is a great place to look for National Geographic and Animal Planet videos that tell all about different animals and how they live. Another good series to look for is How Its Made. This series is pretty self explanatory but I'll explain it anyways. It is simply a series of videos that show how different things are made; anything from baseballs to sleeping bags, from pretzels to televisions. It's a great educational show for kids but it has the added bonus of being interesting enough for adults too, so you can join them for a little quality rest and relaxation time.

Want them to mingle with their friends and have a great time? Throw them a slumber party where they all get to move their sleeping bags onto the living room floor and watch great movies while enjoying snacks of homemade popcorn and chocolate chip cookies. You'll be mom of the year if you pull this one off.

Another great way to keep kids entertained during the March Break is with music. Let them pick out some new CDs to listen to around the house. You will have a great time music shopping with them! Take them to one of those stores that have the listening booths and let them sample all different kinds of music and see which ones they like best. Grab some compilation CDs of all your favorite sing along songs and have a show in your living room complete with wacky outfits and spoon "microphones". You may as well make it a March break that they will never forget.

With not going to school, therefore not having a set schedule, sometimes its hard to get kids to go to bed during breaks. Why not make a CD for your child with soft music and lullabies's or maybe get them several CDs with books on them. Let your child go to sleep to the story of Winnie the Pooh for the younger ones or The Hobbit for the older ones. Stories on tape are not just good to keep them quiet in bed either. You can let them listen to stories all day long if you like.

There are many ways to keep your children entertained with CDs and DVDs this March Break. Have a relaxing and entertaining break with your children!

What is the Procedure Involved in Getting Body Art?

By James Beckett

The process is pretty well defined by now so once you know the basic steps of getting a tattoo, it's a simple procedure.

Like anything else, the more you know and the better prepared you are when you go to the tattoo artist, the easier things will go. So if you already have your design picked out or drawn, that will save a lot of time once you get to the shop where you will get your tattoo. So if you want the name of your sweetheart in some fancy font forever on your arm, tinker with that at home and take that to the tattoo artist to work with.

Still others like the idea of getting body decorations for the beauty of a design like a sunset or a mythical creature. Your reasons are your own but think it out in advance and have a drawing ready to show to the tattoo artist when you get to the parlor. The person doing the tattoo doesn't like to wing it so give them something to work with.

Color is also a big decision about your new tattoo because some colors will look better with your skin shade than others do. White doesn't show up well if you are pale and darker colors may not look right if you are black with a deeper shade. Look at tattoos on people you know with similar shading and follow the advice of your tattoo artist because he or she has seen it all and can give you good guidance.

The next thing to consider is where you want the tattoo to be etched on your body. If you want the entire world to see your new tattoo at every opportunity, you will put it somewhere that is normally exposed, like the neck, the wrist, shoulders, or the lower leg. But if you are getting your tat more for yourself and not for others, you may decide on placing your body art on your mid thigh, lower back, or on the upper part of the foot.

When deciding on a location for your tat design, you should also consider the long term consequences of this decision. If your future plans include getting a post in Corporate America, for instance, you may want to re-evaluate before resolving to get a tattoo of a knife on your face.

But the last by far not the least decision you must make is who will give you your tattoo. Always go to a professional who knows how to give you a tattoo that looks good and who uses hygienic procedures. But ask your friends who have gotten tattoos for reviews of the tattoo parlors and of the individual tattoo artists so you know the good places and also what to avoid so you don't have a bad experience.

Before you take the plunge and get your tat, take the right steps and collect as much information as possible, always sleep on a decision like this so that you don't make an impulsive decision - don't forget that this is a decision that you will be required to live with forever.

Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs - a new step in Film Making

By Steve Collins

The creation of Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs began sometime in early 1934. This was Walt Disney's first effort at producing an animated feature. To this point, Disney had successfully produced a series of animated shorts entitled The Alice Comedies as well as Mickey Mouse and Silly Symphonies.

This was a risk for Disney as no one had ever attempted such a feat. He had estimated the cost of production at a staggering $250,000. This was approximately ten times the cost of an average animated short. Indeed, Disney had to mortgage his home, while knocking on every studio door in Hollywood. When all was said and done, by 1937, Disney had managed to raise the massive sum of $1.5 million! The production stretched three years, wherein Disney pioneered a plethora of techniques that would come to be industry standards. Among these techniques was the use of rotoscope animation, which allowed live-action actors to be overlaid with animation cells, creating the fantasy of realistic movement. Additionally, Disney pioneered vivid effects animation and the use of the multi-plane camera, which allowed him to make and film groundbreaking three-dimensional scenes.

When it came to the dwarves, Disney had always wanted Grumpy. He asked his animators to pool together about fifty different names and personalities for the dwarves. Among the abandoned names were such standouts as Blabby, Shifty, Awful, Biggy, Burpy, Cranky, Daffy, Dippy, Helpful, Lazy, Puffy, Scrappy, Silly, Sleazy, Tearful, Tipsy, Tubby, Weepy, and Woeful. The seven that were finally created, were, of course, Grumpy, Happy, Sleepy, Bashful, Sneezy, Dopey, and Doc.

Besides the animation and loveable characters, it was the music of Snow White that captivated the audience. The music was created by Frank Churchill, Larry Morey, and Paul J. Smith and included such classics as "Heigh-Ho," "Some Day My Prince Will Come," and "Whistle While You Work." The soundtrack was in such demand, that it was released along with the theatrical release. Indeed, Snow White is the first film in history to have a separate soundtrack released. Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs made its premiere at the Carthay Circle Theater in Los Angeles on December 21, 1937. The premiere was met with a standing ovation from such well-heeled luminaries as Charlie Chaplin, Douglas Fairbanks, Jr., Judy Garland, Carole Lombard, John Barrymore, and Marlene Dietrich. It was hailed as a daring new step in not only animation, but filmmaking in general. It was the top grossing film of 1938. In fact, it is still one of the highest grossing films in history, adjusting for inflation. It was a resounding victory for Walt Disney, both creatively and financially. The proceeds from Snow White would see Disney Studios relocate from Silver Lake, a suburb of Los Angeles to Burbank. Moreover, it would deservingly garner Disney an honorary Academy Award for "significant screen innovation."

When Should a Celebrity Reveal a Major Illness?

By Jeannie Giordano

A recent example of a celebrity keeping their illness a secret is Georgia Frontiere, the Rams owner, who died at 80 of breast cancer. Her illness was kept a secret by family members and team officials, according to her wishes.

Deciding to reveal an illness can leave one feeling exposed and vulnerable. Having to worry about the added attention and press this kind of news can bring is especially difficult while battling disease.

Choosing not to reveal a major illness might seem like the obvious choice for a public figure faced with this decision. Besides the unwanted press, there are other reasons a celebrity might choose not to reveal their illness.

Being remembered for their work, not their disease is what most people desire. And, going public with a disease can be a career-ender, so many choose to keep their battles private.

Great goodness can come from revealing a major illness, despite the difficulties in doing so.

In the case of breast cancer, speaking about it publicly can help to raise awareness of the disease and encourage others who might be at risk to get screened.

Lance Armstrong, a major sports figure who just won his 7th Tour de France race, revealed his battle with testicular cancer, even while his cancer metastasized to his lungs and brain.

What is the reason these celebrities reveal their illnesses? I have a hunch it's because the act of confessing is restorative. Clarity and a new purpose is often the end-result.

How soon you are able to master the acoustic guitar with the online acoustic guitar course will depend entirely on your ability and desire to learn. It also depends on whether you are a rhythm guitarist or a lead guitarist. Becoming a lead guitarist could take a longer time.

Initially for the beginners it may seem difficult to even play the acoustic guitar. It takes a tremendous amount of time, patience and practice to learn any thing. You need to have the desire or the ability just to get to a point to where the fingers can play anything worth while on the guitar. The strength and dexterity that the acoustic guitar demands is at first, alien to the fingers. Unlike the piano, the acoustic guitar is laid out in a way that is not linear.

The scales not only go up and down the neck but also across the fret board. Many of the notes repeat themselves in several locations on the acoustic guitar. It requires dexterity to make each hand work in a different way; one hand has to push down on the string while the other hand has to pluck the strings accurately and at the same time. Not being able to look at both hands at once can make it very hard for beginners to keep track of their fingers and understand what is going on.

While going in for a purchase left handed people should buy Right Handed guitars. Consider the density of wood, the action of the frets and the intonation while choosing a guitar.

Sleeping Beauty - Arguably Disney's Finest Work

By Steve Collins

Sleeping Beauty was the sixteenth film in Walt Disney's body of work, following Lady and The Tramp and preceding One Hundred and One Dalmatians. It was the last feature to be based upon a fairy tale, authored by Charles Perrault. Indeed, Disney Studios would not return to a fairy tale again until the 1989 production of The Little Mermaid. Moreover, this was the last feature to showcase hand-inked cells.

The film was supervised by Walt Disney himself, though he delegated the direction of the feature to his trusted animators Les Clark, Eric Larson, and Wolfgang Reitherman. The three animators, as well as six other colleagues, were known jointly as "The Nine Old Men." The Nine Old Men were the key animators who had worked with Walt beginning with Snow White and ending with The Rescuers. The film's score was performed by the Berlin Symphony Orchestra, based on the 1890 Sleeping Beauty ballet composed by Pytor Tchaikovsky. Production of Sleeping Beauty stretched nearly the entire decade of the 1950s. According to Wikipedia, the story was rewritten through 1951, the actor's voices were recorded in 1952, the actual animation spanned from 1953 to 1958, and the stereophonic score was recorded in 1957. Walt Disney wanted the look of the film to mimic medieval art. This marked a decided break from the characteristically rounded and fluid animation style Disney had become famous for. Since the feature would be screened via the Super Technirama 70 format, Disney was keen on making Sleeping Beauty as complex and detailed as possible. The Super Technirama 70 format was a process that optically enlarged 35mm film stock to a 70mm print. The Black Cauldron is the only other Disney film to have been presented Super Technirama 70.

Disney charged Eyvind Earle, a background painter and artist, with the production design of the film. Earle was given a great deal of freedom to push the boundaries. His lavish backgrounds often took seven to ten days to paint, whereas an average background painting took only one day to prepare. Earle's artistic latitude was not popular among the animators as they had previously enjoyed a great deal of participation with regards to their respective characters and background settings. Disney's belief in Earle was directly related to his winning an Academy Award for a Disney released short in 1953 entitled Toot, Whistle, Plunk and Boom. Following its release, Sleeping Beauty only earned half of its $6 million budget. This shortfall nearly bankrupted the Disney studio. The film was initially criticized for its pacing and alleged shallow character development. Many felt the radical new look alienated a number of Disney fans. It has subsequently come to be considered a classic, most notably for its lush backgrounds, widescreen format, and stirring soundtrack.

Offbeat Cartoonist's Life Saved Two Times By Smart Dogs

By Rick London

I was still relatively new to southern California in 1994. I had sold my successful bus tour business in Washington D.C and moved to Los Angeles to try my hand at screen-writing. Not much was shaking for me in Los Angeles, except the ground. I settled in Sherman Oaks in the San Fernando Valley area. I can clearly remember being awakened about five a.m by my golden retriever puppy Otis who was barking wildly. Otis slept on the bed with me but he had hopped down onto the floor to begin his ranting. This was no ordinary bark but I took him outside anyway into the back yard which met an alley. Otis kept barking and was clearly agitated but did not relieve himself. I rubbed my eyes and looked around and there was dozens (if not more) cats walking around in circles in the alley. I had never seen this before. They were clearly not acting the way I normally see cats behave, but it was as if they were trying to escape something. My golden puppy continued barking.

Suddenly I was thrown to the ground which was rumbling. It felt as if I was in the center of a volcano minus the heat. Then I heard loud crashing sounds. My home and a few others on the block had caved in. Part of the roof was at ground level and the rest was hanging in various places. It no longer resembled a roof, and shingles were strewn everywhere. The wall had caved in where my bedroom used to be and a giant ceiling beam lay across the bed where I had just been sleeping not more than 10 minutes earlier. The cats (and my dog Otis) continued their strange behavior. They were able to stand up on their four legs, however.

I could not return to the inside of my house for severa days due to the terrible condition it was in. It would be too dangerous with hanging wires and boards. The ground continued to shake on and off for another few weeks. I had lost everything. I was ok about the furniture, as those things can be replaced, but family albums, memorabilia that dated back to kindergarten, childhood videos, college and travel collectibles were never to be found again. So I rented an apartment, which was not easy, as they were being filled rapidly. The apartment would not allow animals, so first I had to find a good home for the dog who had just saved my life. Fortunately, from an emotional standpoint, as much as I hated to lose this wonderful animal, I knew I had to. I quickly placed an ad and Otis drove away to Malibu in a Rolls convertible and probably lived a better quality of life than I will ever live. The universe provided him good karma for his good deed I suppose. I felt he deserved the best, and he got it.

I called the insurance company but the wait would be long. Then my mother called from Mississippi to alert me she had contracted an incurable form of cancer. She needed me there. I left, and did not resolve any of my valuables. But I will always remember the beautiful blond golden retriever puppy who saved my life, sensed the coming danger, and alerted me. I would definitely not be here writing had it not been for Otis.

Being back home in southern Mississippi after being gone for so long was hard on me. I had worked around the country and was very different from my childhood friends who had never left home. It proved difficult to form friendship bonds because of lack of similar interests, hence not a lot of conversation. So I focused on taking care of mom and a sales job I took at a local television station.

Though Mom put up a valiant four year struggle, much longer than doctors predicted, she finally died at age 60 from the disease. I was devastated and was becoming very depressed. Some college friends from near Boston, in Newburyport on Cape Cod, invited me to stay with them for a week. I did. They kept me my spirits up with movies, dinners etc. One of the movies was with Jack Nicholson and Helen Hunt "As Good As It Gets" in which a dried-up, crusty writer (played by Nicholson) has his life changed by taking care of a neighbor's (Greg Kinnear's) dog, just a four-legged animal hwho Nicholson despised, but later loved, learned love from, and passed it on to his true love, Helen Hunt, who responded in kind.

After the movie, I realized that the character played by Nicholson could have easily been me. I had been a writer most of my life, (as far back as fourth grade, writing everything from sit-coms to movies, to short stories to, finally cartoons. I had wanted to start an offbeat cartoon project similar to The Far Side, but was too drained and depressed to launch it, plus, I was too depressed to work, and just sat at home for months and watched the news (which led to more depression).

To get back on my feet, I began volunteering at the local university equestrian center, cleaning out barns and feeding horses. One very stormy day, with tornadoes in the vicinity, a pack of three dogs showed up. I fell in love with one immediately, who looked just like Benji, but he was a bit scared of people. He obviously had been abused and/or hit by a vehicle and his hair was one big mat. His coloration was superb, and his soulful eyes showed he wanted love, and had a lot to give. They begged for help. I could tell this one was a survivor. We left food and water out for him every night since he did not want human interaction, and he would eat and drink a little and slept in the barn with the horses. Whenever it thundered, which was often, Thor barked. That is how he got his name.

My good friend the veterinarian promised to take Thor home home and bring him back to health, which might take a month or so, if I would adopt him, otherwise, he was ready to be put down. I was not in a good space, I felt, to take care of an animal, but I agreed. Little did I know that one day, that animal would take care of me. She shaved his mats, put him on drips, and cared for him in her home night after night. Surprisingly Thor not only survived, but thrived and started being a loving well-behaved kind animal.

It seemed like an instant, but within a few months, Thor was socialized, loved to be petted, ride in the car, go everywhere with me, lay by my side, and even sleep in my bed. He was housebroken. Though still scared of thunder and loud noises, it wasn't long before I realized this was not just a pet, but a gift from God. He knew my every mood. I was working from home, and like magic, creating my cartoons after four years of total writer's block.

It took time for me to realize the dramatic changes occurring in my life. I could not see the connection between pet care and increased creativity. Finally it started to all make sense. He not only loved me, but his playful antics made me hysterical with laughter. It was as if he knew he was doing them, to awaken my spirituality. And he did.

This dog rarely left my side. If I called his name, he would wag his tail, come over to me, I would lean down, and he would kiss my face and keep smiling. The look seemed to say, "Keep doing what you are doing Rick, one day you will see. Good things will happen for you." I felt this was all my imagination, but I continued my daily rituals with Thor. He could be very playful and manipulative. When he was in the mood to play, he would let me know that just a kiss was not enough. He wanted me on the floor with him to play, roll around with him, or play with any of his favorite toys. I always obliged. Oddly enough, the longer I had Thor, the more I created. And the more I created, the more I sold.

As my quality time continued with Thor I noticed my cartoon venture had grown rather large. Out of the blue, emails were coming in asking me for my autograph. "Why?, I thought. What have I done?" Thor continued to smile as if he knew. It was what he had done. He was slowly helping me regain my creativity and spirit by offering me something I had never had...unconditional love. When my mood was down, he automatically came to me full of kisses, and would jump on the bed and sleep with me, right by my head on my pillow if I really felt bad. He knew when I felt good, his smile would return and he would lead me to my computer, as if he knew, that was where I was going to "make it".

The vet estimated Thor was about eight years (by his teeth) when entered my life. Four years later, he developed some sort of disease that made him act catatonic and simply stare at walls. He would not even respond to his name or eat much. I rushed him to the vet who made an immediate diagnosis: "juvenile seizures" and that he would have to be put on barbiturates daily (and other medicines) and would live a short, and not a very good quality of life, and to prepare to put him down soon. I had been feeding him the highest grade dog food.

The Internet became my constant research tool. Within a week, I found a controversial vet/surgeon/author n in Australia named Dr. Ian Billinghurst, who had written several books on what is known as the b.a.r.f diet (bones and raw foods) and I researched more about it. There was not much science behind it, but the theory made good sense, in that a dog's digestive system had not evolved that much from when they were still wolves, just as a cat's had not since they were lions (the diet allegedly works for both). This would be the first time I had ever tried something so dramatic with no science behind it. The first month was terrible. Though Thor devoured the food, his elimination was very discolored, and he developed a several other unusual symptoms and bad smells.

Suddenly, within a month, everything changed. He had jumped on the bed next to me. He was ready to play and play a lot. We played for hours on the floor. He was not only his old self again, he was a brand new dog. His elimination was working properly again. He quit vomiting. When he was ready to eat, he led me to the fridge. He ate only raw fruits, vegetables, meat and bones. He was now turning 13 and walking five miles a day with me. His stools were small and hard as a rock and had no odor at all. This would continue until he was eighteen, and it would be done so without one illness nor vet bill. I stopped his vaccinations, and started giving him homeopathic nosodes and for heart worm protection, walnut hull tinctures. He thrived. He remained the happiest, healthiest most energetic dog I had ever owned, much less seen in my life He was so special that shop owners came outside just to talk to "Thor" when I took him on his long walks. They simply could not believe a dog that old could walk so far, without being out of breath, and was so kind to everyone. They found it difficult to believe that when I found him, he had a severe fear of people.

Thor "never gave up on me", even during some more "dark periods". He even stood by me through 3.5 years of college. I went back (online) at age 45 after a major heart attack. Friends who kept him for me when I was in the hospital told me he simply laid in the corner with his head on his front paws. He was almost totally inactive except to go outside to do his business. When I came home, he was happy again, but actually sensed I was unable for awhile to get on the floor to play so he jumped up on the bed to be with me while I recovered. Never bothering me if I was too tired, but being by my side, in any case.

One day I woke up and remembered that Thor was now turning twenty. He started developing minor heart problems so I put him on some special herbs that I also took and still take, including samento (a strong form of cat's claw herb), cayenne, hawthorn berry, and several others. This kept his disease at bay, but he was beginning to be unable to take the long walks. He continued short walks, a few blocks, almost until the very end. Finally, about a year later, the heart problem reached another stage which was more serious. I finally had to take him to the vet and put him on heart meds. I knew this would eventually affect his liver and kidneys, but at least he stood a chance before that happened. He lived almost another year. Thor finally passed away on the floor, in my arms, at age 22 his liver gave out and he sadly died. I grieved for a long time.

The vet said not to put Thor down, he still had a chance, and sent me home after giving me morphine to administer to him every four hours. I lay on the floor with him as he could no longer jump on the bed. I set the alarm clock for every four hours, and put the pill down Thor's throat. He showed no signs of pain, and the vet advised me what he had was not painful; that heart ailments and such do not manifest in animals the way they do humans; they simply grow tired and numb; and, to be sure, the morphine would prevent any pain in case the liver had damage.

I finally agreed with the vet. He had been given death sentences before and made it anyway. This dog was a survivor and as long as there was no pain, I had to give it one last try. The vet assured me he would not be in any pain.

I put the morphine pills down Thor's throat every four hours around the clock and stayed on the floor right by his side stroking his back which he seemed to appreciate I fell asleep about 3am the next morning after giving him, what would be his last dose. When I woke up, Thor was not breathing, yet he still had a smile on his face. I could feel the tears building in my eyes. "I kissed him, and told him I loved him very much, and how much he had done for me." The dog that a vet begged to rescue, rescued me and taught me an unconditional love I'd never experienced elsewhere. I have been able to "pass it forward" and I always give Thor credit. I do believe that is why God invented dogs, especially dogs that need to be rescued, because the big surprise is, they rescue us too.

I folded Thor's favorite blanket around his body, and had built a small coffin out of a wooden box. I dug a hole on a mountain in the backyard of my building in Hot Springs, Ar where Thor's body lay today. This was his favorite place to go hiking with me. There, he chased squirrels, possums, armadillos, barked at soaring eagles, and ran around sniffing all the great smells that could keep him sniffing for hours in his younger days.

There is a headstone above his grave, with a message to him, of how much I loved him and how important he was in my life. May he rest in peace.

Not too long ago, I had a long term relationship with a wonderful woman named "Rosy" She had a fear of dogs due to having been attacked by one in her youth. I had talked about "Thor" to her. She lived far away, but we visited often. She came one day, and met Thor (when he was about twenty one) and he loved her immediately, rubbing against her leg, demanding to be petted by her. This only surprised me a little, as I know that dogs have a 6th sense of person's fear and sometimes bark or attack. But she was not scared of Thor in the least and bent down and hugged and petted him. They were immediate friends. This was a good sign, as, though Thor loved almost everyone, if someone came even close to me that he did not have a good feeling about, he would bark nonstop. I believe Thor sensed that Rosy knew how to practice unconditional love, felt it, and Thor sensed it. Instead of giving her further fear, he showed her he loved her.

Looking back at all the stress and the strain of the care-taking phase was rewarding. I was able to do everything I could for both the person who gave me life (my mom) and the dog who eventually taught me how to live and give unconditional love. If it can happen to me, and can happen to Jack Nicholson's character, it can happen to you. Adopt a dog today, even if you don't feel like the time is right. It is. I promise.

Music is a Giant Step to a Relaxed Mind

By Ozzie Wells

Oh, that sweet sound. Music's recovering effects have healed humans for dozens of years. People love music for a variety or reasons. While some pursue it for fun or leisure, many take it more seriously and practice it habitually.

Music does not hold any secret barriers. It can be learned by people of all regions or ages. The only imperative thing here is that the person must show curiosity to learn all the nuances of music. After the choice to learn music has been made, next comes the assignment of selecting the right musical instrument.

If we think back dozens of years, the number of musical instruments available was less. But not today. The vast range of musical instruments available has been increasing year after year. Before going to buy musical instruments there are some basic factors which you need to consider.

Once you have discovered a few sounds that please you, see if you can try some out. If you know someone who plays an guitar, ask them if you can try it. Get a good feel for it or at least hold the guitar and feel how it feels in your hand.

Also, if you are looking for an saxophone for your child, their school orchestra trainer will most likely possess some student models they can try. Some music stores may be prepared to let you try an . Keep in mind that you will not play a symphony on the first try, but you do want to have an musical instrument that feels somewhat comfortable in your hands. When looking at an brass instrument, there are some physical capabilities you need to consider.

For example, if you have tiny hands, you may have trouble reaching some chords necessary to play the piano. The trombone requires relatively long arms, and a child that is younger than fifth grade is probably too small for it. Kids with braces will have a difficult time beginning a brass instrument, as the pressure on their teeth will be painful. Think about the size of the arms, hand, and mouth of the person you are choosing and instrument for, and try not to force them into something that is too big or small for their build.

Hundreds of guitar shops and music stores abound on the Internet. Many of them operate as a music store in a particular space and are also offering their products online. However, there are in addition several music shops that only operate through the World Wide Web. These music retailers, since they solely rely on the Internet for their business, are somewhat more trained in buying and selling online, so you can that your deals and purchases will be smoother and less likely to be stressful.

Music is a magnificent hobby and a rewarding way of life. We all have the ability to learn, yes some will be better than others, but the rewards will last a lifetime.

6 Things You Should Know When You Learn Mentalism

By Bradlee Carter

Are you looking to learn mentalism? This article will be useful to you because I will show you what you need to know about learning mentalism. I'm a big fan of mentalism and the tricks always seems to keep me guessing. This article will go through 6 things that you need to know get started with mentalism

1. So what is mentalism? Mentalism is a performing art that uses mind tricks to impress the audience. This is the area of magic that can be very simple to perform yet very complex to the spectator. If you looking to get into magic, you should learn mentalism because of the simple mind tricks that you can start with.

2. Presentation. This is the area that you would probably want to concentrate on most. Of course you need to learn the trick, but a trick without proper presentation won't impress anyone. You need to be able to convey to your spectators that what you are saying is true. When you prep your spectator with words, the trick will become even more impressive.

3. Persuasion. This is part of the presentation that is key to learning mentalism. In order to persuade someone, you need to understand what they think and how they think. In this way, you can shape your words and phrases that mix in fiction and reality to create an interesting story. If you watch many magicians today, you will see that they are very good at persuading their spectators.

4. Misdirection and concealment. When you learn mentalism, you need to know how to draw the attention of your spectators. This is a key element in performing mentalist magic because by being able to understand how to control your spectator's eyes, you can pretty much do anything like make things disappear or grab a hidden card out of nowhere, etc.

5. Mind reading. This is probably the area that mentalism is most known for. I would have to say that if you learn mentalism, you should take the time and learn many different techniques of mind reading and mind control. A good place to start is "prediction" tricks where you try to read what the person's mind and make a prediction before they make a choice or decision.

6. Card tricks. Mixing up your routine with card tricks is highly recommended when performing mentalism. A deck of cards add to the "randomness" of being able to read minds. Card tricks are nice because spectators are familiar with it, but can still be amazed which will help prepare them for other parts of your presentation.

Putting all these things together into a spectacular performance will probably take some work. You should always try to learn mentalism on a daily basis so that you can keep practicing your tricks everywhere you go. Once you start remembering tricks, you can interweave your tricks together to come up with with a routine that will impress anyone!

Pinocchio is the Best Hand-drawn, Pre-computer Disney animation.

By Steve Collins

Pinocchio, the character, was imagined by Carlo Collodi in 1883. The adored boy carved from a block of wood by Geppetto the woodcarver was first introduced in the tale The Adventures of Pinocchio. Collodi was very keen on using a puckish, cynical character to explore his own personal convictions and cultural and political critiques. As late as 1938, this was how Walt Disney had characterized the dearly loved wooden puppet who longed to be a real boy.

Disney, feeling that this interpretation of Pinocchio may not be well received across the board, stopped production on his second animated film. He asked for a total rethinking of the character, including how he would move, dress, and look. Initially, Pinocchio looked exactly like a puppet, with a pointed nose, pointed cap, and bare wooden hands. The new drawing of Pinocchio included a rounded face, gloved five-fingered hands, and the trademark Tyrolean hat. Moreover, Disney did way with his original scorn and world-weariness and instead opted to make Pinocchio Significantly more nave and childlike.

Likewise, the part of the cricket was rethought and extended from Collodi's original notion. Not initially in the film production, the cricket was given a considerable part and re-named Jiminy Cricket. He would come to be the voice of Pinocchio's ethics. Ward Kimball, one of Disney's best animators, reworked the character to look like the dapper gentleman we are familiar with today. He was unforgettably voiced by Cliff "Ukulele Ike" Edwards, the popular jazz vocalist and ukulele player.

Gideon the Cat was cast to be voiced by Mel Blanc, the famous voice of Bugs Bunny. Disney decided, however, to make Gideon mute, giving Foulfellow the Fox the bulk of the dialogue. All of Blanc's recorded dialogue, according to Wikipedia, was shelved except for a solitary hiccup we hear three times throughout the film. When Pinocchio was screened in February of 1940, it was successful, but not as well-received as Snow White. The total cost of the production was about $2.3 million, about twice as much as Snow White, yet it only recouped $1.9 million. The box office totals were hindered by the outbreak of World War II in Europe. Moreover, the film lacked a romantic element that had made Snow White so popular. Despite all these obstacles, Pinocchio was a sizeable success, including the song "When You Wish Upon A Star," which would go on to be incorporated into Disney's memorable fanfare. The song went on to win the Academy Award for Best Song. In 1994, Pinocchio was added to the National Film Registry for being "culturally, historically, or aesthetically significant." It is considered to be the best example of hand-drawn, pre-computer-aided Disney animation.

Easy Steps to Improve Your Website

By James Youngblood

Every website should be designed to achieve a basic goal. If you follow a few easy rules, you will increase the changes of achieving that goal.

1)Splash pages should not be used

Splash pages may look nice but they are likely to cause the reader to head for another site before they even find out what you are offering. Busy surfers want information and may move on from the splash page to other straight to the point sites.

2) Banners advertisements should be limited

The decision to seek more information about a topic should be the reader's. You can help them make the 'right' decision by placing strategically worded links in the body of your articles.

3) Your menu system should be easy to use

Your menu system should be simple and straightforward. Make it easy for your readers to know where they are and where they need to go for the information they want. Otherwise, they will leave your site in a hurry.

4) Readers want to know where they are

A visitor that gets lost is a lost visitor! Make sure it is easy for them to remain oriented on your site so they don't rush to the exit. They want your information but don't want to hunt for it.

5) Use audio and video on your site carefully

Give the visitor the option of listen to any sound or watching the videos on your site. They want to be in control of what they see and hear and may resent any attempt to force them to listen or watch unwanted media. The exit is only a click away and they are more than willing to leave your site for another.

How Disney's Cinderella Changed the World of Animation

By Steve Collins

Cinderella, the twelfth feature released by Walt Disney, was the first full-length feature since Disney released Bambi in 1942. The Second World War and a series of disappointing box office returns made the prospect of a full-length feature problematic. Indeed, most critics consider Cinderella a pivot point between the classic Disney animation of the 1930s and 40s and the new animation of the 1950s and 60s.

To reduce the cost of production, Disney commissioned the use of extensive rotoscoping. Rotoscoping is a technique involving the animation of live-action film. Indeed, approximately 90% of Cinderella was initially shot as a live-action film. Two actresses were hired as a frame of reference for Cinderella, namely Helene Stanely and Ilene Woods. These actresses heavily influenced Cinderella's mannerisms and inflections. Point of fact, Helene Stanley was also used to play both Sleeping Beauty and Anita Radcliff in One Hundred and One Dalmatians. Prince Charming, on the other hand, was modeled by William Phipps.

The basic story was adapted from the fairy tale written by the French author Charles Perrault (1628-1703). Perrault authored a series of fairy tales that have become part of our collective Western culture, namely Little Red Riding Hood, Sleeping Beauty, Puss In Boots, and Bluebeard. Disney would later produce an animated film based on Sleeping Beauty in 1959. Interestingly, Disney had used Cinderella 30 years prior in an animated short series called Laugh-O-Gram, which was later included in the Cinderella Platinum DVD Edition.

For the first time, Disney employed composers from Tin Pan Alley, a loose association of New York-based publishers and songwriters. In particular, Mack David, Jerry Livingston, and Al Hoffman were all hired to write such hits as "Bibbidi-Bobbidi-Boo" and "A Dream Is A Wish Your Heart Makes." The soundtrack was issued on Walt Disney Music, another first for Disney, bringing in significant revenues. Cinderella earned three Academy Award nominations for Best Sound, Original Music Score, and Best Song (for "Bibbidi-Bobbidi-Boo").

Cinderella was released on February 15, 1950 to mixed reviews. Some critics thought the new animation style was too significantly different from the early Disney classics. The production costs for Cinderella had reached nearly $3 million, putting the company heavily into debt. Disney had not enjoyed a box office success since Snow White, and many industry insiders were afraid Disney would go bankrupt as Disney had been heavily in debt since Pinocchio. The incredible box office revenues, as well as the income from soundtrack sales and merchandizing, not only saved the company, but funded films throughout the 1950s.

Learn Fingerpicking to be a real pro

By Crazy Dave

Short Description: Classical guitarists use their fingers to pick the strings. Folk and Rock artists also prefer to fingerpick. Apart from the visual appeal it gives them unlimited opportunities to improvise.

If you use your fingers to pick the strings you get the benefit of picking five strings simultaneously. It's akin to having five picks at your disposal. This added freedom lures all high grade artists to fingerpick while playing on the guitar.

Many classical guitarists assign each finger a letter. Thumb is known as P, index finger obviously is called I and the middle finger gets the name M. A is the ring finger and your little finger is lovingly called C. In case you forget, just remember "Poor Idiots' Memories Are Crap".

At this stage you should have some idea about the strings too. You must have noticed strings become thicker as you go upwards and the thickest string is closest to your chest. It is known as low E and as you go downwards you have A, D, G, B and the thinnest and lowermost string is called high E.

Place your right arm over the guitar and let your fingers hang loosely over the sound hole. Gently curl your fingers so that the thumb rests on low E. Let the index finger rest on G, the middle finger on B and the ring finger on E. Usually the little fingers is not of much use. As it is you can't really pick strings effectively with your pinkie - it's too weak for that.

Now bend your thumb a little and pick E A and D slowly downward. Touch the strings with the fleshy part of your thumb. After you're through with this simple exercise and feeling reasonably confident, start picking G B and high E with the fingers poised over them. Start to pick downwards first and as you feel more and more at home you can start the upward strokes as well.

Don't straighten you fingers while you fingerpick - keep them slightly curled and try to keep the palm as still as possible. Use only your fingers while fingerpicking and as soon as you've plucked a string pull back the finger - it should never rest on the string. If you feel the sound is too soft, pluck the strings a little harder.

Some players keep their pinkie free while some others plant it near the bridge for additional support. I have nothing specific to tell you in this matter. Do what suits you best.

It isn't really a bad idea to grow nails on your picking hand. It gives a brighter sound.

Sweep Picking is the only logical way to pick

By Crazy Dave

Short Description: There are many stories doing the rounds since ages about this method of picking. Some are true while some are absolute figments of imagination. This article tries to put things in proper perspective.

You must have heard so many times sweep picking distorts the rhythm and precision that can be achieved through alternate picking. But have you ever cared to understand the details of sweep picking technique? If you haven't, let's do it now.

Suppose you're playing a major scale using three notes per string. If you're using alternate picking technique you would pick down/up/down all the way through the scale. If instead you use sweep picking you will play down/up/down on the first string followed by DOWN/up/down on the second string (higher in pitch) and DOWN/up/down on the next higher string. You must have noted that two down strokes are performed successively when strings are changed.

And when you sweep pick while descending the scale, you will pick up/down/up, UP/down/up, UP/down/up. Again you must have noticed that you perform two same pick strokes consecutively while changing strings. This is what sweep picking is all about.

You must have learnt in school that the shortest distance between two points is a straight line. The technique of sweep picking uses this elementary mathematical axiom and hence is the most logical way to pick. The guitarist goes directly to the string that needs to be picked without getting restricted by the strict down/up/down regimen of alternate picking style.

But some players tend to feel more comfortable while remaining in the predetermined pattern of alternate picking. They say it leaves them with more free time when they are improvising since the picking motion becomes almost automatic. I feel this to be more a matter of perception than any real problem.

This doesn't however mean that sweep picking is free from all problems. There are indeed certain rough edges to it and let's try to smooth them out one by one.

I've heard players complain of sloppy sound while sweep picking. This occurs mainly because most of them try to practice too fast. If picking is done slowly, the tones will become crystal clear. Speed can easily be achieved once the picking is perfect. The other problem is to mute the notes which are not played. Well, this can be easily done by using either the palm or the thumb to press the strings that are not struck.

The biggest problem in my opinion is not to sound as if you are strumming while your pick bounces across the strings. Each note should have a definition and though the arm moves in a continuous motion across the strings you should be able to play the arpeggio slowly and in time while each note is distinctly heard.

Magic Card Tricks Your Children Will Love

By Zara Carmel

It can be a lot of fun to perform magic card tricks. They're great to do for a live audience and can even enliven parties or special events. If you're thinking about doing card tricks, read on to learn more.

Deciding to start doing card tricks is easy enough. Fortunately, they're also easy enough once you get used to doing them.

They even have the extra bonus of being extremely popular with just about everyone.

It's a good idea for you to read about different magic card tricks in order to choose the ones that are right for you. Gather up a trusted friend who you can practice on.

Don't forget, magicians never reveal their secrets (usually), so you don't need to feel obliged to tell your friend how the trick works.

Other times it's better to just practice your trick alone in front of a mirror. Just remember that we tend to be too hard on ourselves, so don't get too discouraged with yourself.

Working in front of a mirror like this is a great way to make sure that your illusions are working.

See, part of pulling off successful card tricks is having the ability to deceive your audience. There are a lot of different methods for this.

Conversation is one of the most widely used. When you're talking about what you're doing or even another point of conversation your audience will be less likely to notice any trickery that's going on.

By the way, this is an excellent way to set up your trick. Sometimes you need to shuffle cards and do other things that must be done.

If you're doing a false shuffle, you definitely need to keep talking to your audience. You want to keep them distracted and off their guard.

Once you're comfortable doing the basic card tricks, you may want to think about expanding your horizons. Fortunately, you'll find no lack of great card tricks out there waiting to be learned and mastered. There are even ebooks filled with information geared to help you learn the best card trick information.

Occasionally people like inventing their own card tricks. If you're someone who's creative and insightful, you might like doing this yourself.

Maybe you could expand on an already established trick, or maybe you have what it takes to invent something completely new.

No matter how you go about it, magic card tricks is a great hobby to have. It could even turn into a business if you are in high enough demand!

To get the most from it, it's essential to read as much as you can and figure out the details.

Gibson Les Paul Guitar. The Gibson Icon.

By Terry Booth

One of the stars of the guitar world is the Gibson Les Paul Guitar. A solid body electric guitar, the partnership between Les Paul and Gibson Guitars began in the 1940s. Lester Paul was a very popular guitarist musician of the time and was well known due to his radio show. In his spare time Les Paul also enjoyed playing around with the idea of amplification of the guitar sound and dubbing of various sounds over the top of others.

In his home, Les Paul would begin to play around with the idea of the solid body guitar and come up with some of his own draft models. One of the thoughts of the time was that this would give an honest sound as the hollow body guitar shape does alter the acoustics. The solid piece of wood would also emphasise the sustain quality of the sound.

The first solid body model that Les Paul was to produce was named the log guitar. the log was a very simple instrument with nothing special to entice any sort of following in the guitar world at all. In fact it was regarded as no more than a broom and disregarded by many. In spite of this Les Paul persisted with his tinkering. He contacted the Gibson Guitar company in 1946 with his log guitar.

Unfortunately there was not a positive reaction from Gibson Guitars and they did not take his ideas and prototype seriously. However the continued development of the solid body guitar continued on around them and Gibson Guitars were forced to take notice when Fender Guitars released the first Fender Telecaster in 1950.

The urgency of the situation for Gibson Guitars was now apparent as besides Fender there were also other Guitar production companies doing their own solid body concept work. These were National, Richenbacker and Bigsby. So in 1951, Gibson re-contacted Les Paul seeking his assistance in design and promotion of a product for them.

The collaboration between Gibson Guitars and Les Paul was a successful one as history now shows. In 1952, Paul signed an endorsement contract to have input into the design and also play Gibson's first solid body guitar and so the Gibson Les Paul was released. For his part Les Paul was to receive 5% in royalty of sales for a 5 year period.

The price of the first Gibson Les Paul Standard was $210 which placed it slightly more expensive than Fender's rival Telecaster guitar. The Les Paul Standard has a gold finish so was always to be referred to as the Gold Top. The Les Paul combined a mahogany body with a carved maple top. This combined the clean, clear sound of the maple with the warmer resonance of the mahogany.

The original Gibson Les Paul had a combined bridge and tailpiece that connected to the bottom of the guitar. Les Paul had designed this for support on his big hollow bodied guitars but it was no longer necessary on the solid body guitar so it was soon replaced in 1953. The original guitar also started with two single coil pickups, (P 90s). A volume and tone pot for each pickup was controlled by the three way selector switch. The Les Paul Standard had a mahogany neck topped with a rosewood finger board. There were crown shaped pearl inlays to mark the positions on the fret board.

In 1954, Gibson Guitars introduced two more Les Paul models. They were the Les Paul Junior, which was essentially a cheaper version designed for beginners, and the Les Paul Custom, a top end range. This began the era of the rock guitarist and the Lead Soloist. For the last 50 years, guitar players are often divided between being Fender or Gibson. The Gibson Les Paul played a unique and much loved role in the rock and roll revolution.

Baby Boomers still remember the Micke Mouse Club

By Steve Collins

Those who were teens in the 1950's remember with fondness coming home from school in the latter part of the 50's to watch Walt Disney Studios' Mickey Mouse Club. The second television show created by Disney, The Mickey Mouse Club was televised in part to help fund the creation of the Disneyland theme park. From 5:00-6:00 in its first two seasons and from 5:00-5:30 in its last two, U.S. teens were glued to the television.

The idea was that of a variety show hosted by Jimmie Dodd who, incidentally, came up with the brilliant idea for the cast members to wear Mickey Mouse ears. The series featured a cast of young stars who signed on to each episode with the energetic Mouseketeer Roll Call. The most beloved cast member by far was Annette Funicello. The show contained a potpourri of newsreels, talent features, cartoons, musical numbers, and serials, including Spin and Marty, The Hardy Boys, and Corky and White Shadow.

Every day had a unique theme. Monday was "Fun with Music"; Tuesday featured a guest star; Wednesday brought "Anything Can Happen Day"; Thursdays utilized a circus theme, and Friday concluded the week with a Talent Round-up. The tunes were catchy, the kids were wholesome, and the message to teens of the fifties stayed with them through the years.

Though it only lasted four seasons, its fans never forgot it, and it was the Baby Boomers' misty memories of the show that instigated its reruns from 1975 to 1977 and the eventual development of the All New Mickey Mouse Club in January 1977. It, too, continued the idea of themed weekdays remixed to a disco beat. The revival did not catch on with 70's teens, however, and the show was cancelled.

A 1990's revival did much better. It carried the same title as the 1970's revival, but was nicknamed MMC. Filmed with a live audience in Orlando, the show was known for its mixed race cast. Famous "graduates" of the MMC, which premiered in 1989 and continued in reruns until 1996, included musicians Christine Aguilera, Britney Spears, and Justin Timberlake.

The original Mickey Mouse Club stands as a excellent example of what programming for older children could aspire to. Wholesome, fun, and educational, modern television producers could take a few lessons from it.

You can pick real fast if you know Alternate Picking

By Crazy Dave

Short Description: You need to pick with alternate down stroke and up stroke if you want to pick real fast. Learn the technique of alternate picking in this article.

This is a technique where you alternately pick downward and upward in a continuous run. Tremolo is the name given to very fast alternate picking done on a single note.

By doing alternate upward and downward movement, you can economize movement of your wrist a great deal while you play the notes. So, it becomes easier for you to smoothly execute fast picking licks.

The first step however would be to go and get a brand new pick. It should be of medium thickness so that you can pick the strings firmly without in any way muting them. Slip the pick between your thumb and forefinger. The pointed edge should peep out with about two thirds of it being hidden between the fingers. This happens to be the most "favored" way of holding the pick.

Legends, however, have their own unique ways of holding it. So, you're free to hold it in any way you want. If you feel comfortable and can easily execute the notes, hold the pick in any way you want - it's not an issue.

The whole purpose of alternate picking is to be able to do a fast run. It thus becomes extremely important to choose which part of the string you'd pick. If picking is done right on the bridge you'll get an additional treble. But you'll be able to extract a mellower tone if you go nearer the neck. Choose the position which suits the composition you're playing.

The tone you extract from the instrument has a great bearing on the overall impact of your performance. A pick held parallel to the strings gives you a clear tone. But if you hold the pick at an angle and "slice" the strings, the tones won't be so crystal clear.

Alternate picking is an alteration of upstroke and downstroke. You may keep your wrist stiff and do all the movements by pivoting your arm at elbow. You may also use your thumb and fingers and make circular movements while picking. Well as usual, there is no one ideal and correct method. Choose the method which makes you feel comfortable, it's the best method for you.

Use a metronome to maintain the beats and start with short repeating patterns. Maintain a moderate tempo; say 80 - 100 beats per minute. After you have mastered this, start increasing the tempo slowly and steadily till you reach 160 beats per minute. This is the average tempo of fast licks. Keep practicing at this speed.

Learn How to Hold the Pick Correctly

By Crazy Dave

Short Description: This article teaches you the correct way to hold the pick.

The first step would be to get yourself quite a few picks as you'd lose them much sooner than you imagine. Everybody loses them, so don't be stingy, buy at least a dozen of them. They aren't costly though, you could get a good pick at less than a dollar. There are numerous shapes, sizes and gauges available in the market. Go for medium gauged ones - the ones that are neither too flimsy nor too hard.

Enough about buying picks. It's high time we get down to the actual business of holding a pick.

Open your "picking hand" with the palm facing you. Gently curl the fingers to form a loose fist and turn it in an anti-clockwise direction till the knuckle of your thumb faces you. Keep your hand relaxed all the while.

Slowly slide the pick between your thumb and index finger. Keep sliding it inwards till only about a third of the pointed end can be seen. If you let the pick hang out more either it'll fall off or you'll end up in ungainly tangles while picking the strings. Once the pick is nicely nestled between your thumb and index finger roll open the other fingers.

The pick should be held firmly but don't press it too hard else strumming won't be easy. It doesn't matter if it slips off a few times in the beginning. Simply push it back to its proper place.

Let your picking arm hang loosely over the sound hole and place the pick above the third string while other three fingers rest on the face of your guitar. Without moving your wrist let your arm fall freely using your elbow as a pivot. Stop as soon as you pick the lowest string. Try this again starting from the topmost string till you reach the lowest. Simply let your hand fall across them but see to it that all strings are picked - don't miss any while moving downwards.

With the down stroke taken care of, turn your attention to the up stroke. Keep your wrist still and let the arm remain pivoted at elbow. Start from the lowest string and let your arm move upwards in a smooth single movement. The pick will brush the strings on its way up. It may miss one or two strings - it doesn't matter. The upstroke is always weaker than the down stroke.

You'll surely be surprised if I tell you Eddie Van Halen, Jimi Hendrix and Mark Knopfler had their unique styles of holding the pick. So, don't be too fussy about the "correct" way of holding it. Just see to it that you're comfortable while holding it and can pick the strings without too much effort.

So I had to do a little research to come up with this list, for admittedly I didn't know what index to use. GPA? Degrees? IQ?

SO I finally decided to go with IQ as it is the most relevant to "smartness" as a lot of "over achievers" get good grades and degrees.

SO to find the highest IQ celebs I did a internet web search for MENSA members. Here are my selection for the top six smart celebrities:

Sharon Stone (Would you believe!)

Geena Davis (I saw her at the Hollywood Bed, Bath and Beyond the other day.)

Steve Martin

Stan Medley ( Yes, he was number two on my Sexiest Men in America list too!)

Scott Adams

Jodie Foster

Now these are the verified MENSA members (HIGH IQ Society). Now I guess they are ALL tied for first place as all we know is that they are members of MENSA. We do not know which of them has the higher IQ.

Honorable mention does go to JAMES WOOD, however, who is reported to have an extremely high IQ though we cannot verify any MENSA MEMBERSHIP. (Knowing James he is probably and IQ rebel and would never join MENSA.)

NOW notice that it is quite interesting that out of our top SIX four first names begin with the letter "S". Quite a showing for that letter "S". I Guess that makes it the smartest celebrity letter in the alphabet. Now you know why Sharon Stone TOPS my list - because her name has a double "S". (AND - oh - but the way, my name IS Sheree!)

Also noteworthy is that two of the SIX have last names that begin with the letter "M" - so maybe that puts Steve Martin and Stan Medley at the top of the list as both of their first names begin with "S" and last names begin with "M."

And as long as we are talking about Stan Medley, note that he was also in the top 5 on my SEXIEST MEN IN AMERICA LIST. He was number TWO to be exact - but I guess this moves him into FIRST PLACE on that list as a SMART MAN is really, really sexy to me. (Sorry George Clooney!)

Why Cartoons Rule In The World Of Humor

By Alexa Ferotina

When it comes to humor, what rules? You might be surprised that more people view newspaper and Internet cartoons than all the funny movies, sitcoms, late night shows, and stand-up comedians put together.

In this "rat-race in which we live" which is referred to as planet earth, many simply do not have time to get their "humor fix" within a thirty minute or hour period. If you really think about it, even when listening to a joke, these days, in person, if it goes beyond half a minute, you are out in search of real humor, or at least not paying a lot of attention to someone who finds themselves funny, yet nobody else does.

A good single panel comic tells an entire story in a mere millisecond, and, it may take a few more seconds for the reader to "get it", based on their own "laughter quotient", but it can be quite satisfying, and does the trick. A good cartoon that a person enjoys, and modern science says it can increase one's happiness for as long as that image is still in the viewer's psyche. So funny cartoons make for good medicine.

I am not saying to quit viewing the greats such as Jay Leno, Jon Stewart, old sitcoms on Nickelodeon, or reruns of Frazier or Seinfeld. They are all very funny, to me, and many others, and I have to see a film in the genre of "Being There", "Analyze That" or even a Michael Myers delicacy every so often. But one must plan time for that. Not so with a good newspaper or Internet cartoon.

Meantime, in today's world, which is loaded with both joys and disappointments daily, it is nice, no pertinent to have a quick humor fix. No other venue can do that like a cartoon, specifically a single panel cartoon, which, if not wordy, does the trick fast and furious.

I hereby submit my complication review favorite single-panel cartoons in the order of which I think they satisfy and/or are the funniest. Of course all humor is subjective, so you may have another take on it. In any case, these are my top 6 choices. Londons Times Cartoons is one you might want to bookmark as there are over 8000 cartoons by Rick London and they are funny. Off TheMark by Mark Parisi also has a large inventory but not quite the size as Londons Times. Londons Times are 99% in color, which is oh so joyful for viewing and chuckling (sometimes very loud).

1. Londons Times Cartoons 2. Speed Bump 3. Rubes 4. Off The Mark 5. Dr. Fun 6. Strange Brew

Netflix Review with Netflix Service and Netflix Phone Number

By Sam Blankenship

KeyWords: Netflix Service,Netflix Phone Number,Netflix Special Offers,Netflix Review

I wanted to give a Netflix Review the Netflix Service and Netflix phone number. because I have been using the Netflix, DVD MOVIE rental service.

First day I joined, I called them at the Netflix phone number just to see how long it would take. The line was busy so I found the Netflix Service number and gave them a call, very nice customer service.

The massive momentum the company has is clear. I have had it recommended to me by many of my friends.

Subscribe for the 14 day free trail and they will let you select your movies you want to see and send them to you 1-2 at a time in an envelope. When your finished watching you mail them back in the envelope they came in.

After you send back your movie they send you another one off of the list that you selected.

The movie selection you have to choose from is enormous, including almost every movie made.

I really like not having to go to the video store to rent the movies. The convenience of not having to get in your car and go to the store is super.

If you ever need to speak to a live person I found where to get theNetflix phone number.

Also they have specials going on all the time and when you click on the link Netflix special offers it will take you to where the current special offers are located.

You can have a steady stream of movies coming to you daily, it takes about a day or two for you to receive them and a day or two for the return. The list I have is huge, you just cant find the titles I choose from anywhere , well at least most of the video stores dont have them..

This highly successful venture has caught the attention of Google and they have plans to tap into this huge market also.

Some of my friends said they had problems returning the movies to soon and the new one's did not come back so fast. Throttling is the term I heard it called. It has not been a problem for me, maybe cause I only watch one movie a night, instead of 2-3 a night like some of my friends.

I look forward to checking my mail every day to see if I have any new one's in the mail box. It's a fantastic system of using the postal service to mail the DVDs for us.

Monthly fee for using them is way less than going to the video store and really is a lot easier. I have only had one dvd that had a scratch on it and they replaced it immediately.

When you want to talk to a real person it's nice to have the Netflix phone number. I have it listed on my blog for everyone. So my rating on this is a 2 thumbs up and I recommend you try the 14 day free trial to see what you think. After the trial you should have your own opinion of them and know if it is for you. Aloha and Mahalo for reading this.

Sexy Back Tattoos Are Sure to Attract Attention

By Tim Croy

The mental picture of a sexy fox is familiar to everyone. This woman is slender, clever, outspoken, and every woman is envious of her - while every man is desirous of her. She most likely also has at least one sexy back tattoo. If you believe this is a coincidence, you need to think again.

Even as tattooing has become relatively more mainstream in America, there's still something temptingly transgressive about a woman who gets a tattoo. Maybe it's the permanency, or maybe it's the idea of rebellion. It's most likely a combination of the two.

Women who get sexy tattoos know exactly what they want, and are usually able to get it, too. This woman isn't afraid to decide something and to work for her goals. She knows the tattoo will last for the rest of her life, but she isn't afraid of it. Rather, she cannot wait to express her happiness and confidence at this stage of her life, and it's a time she wants to remember forever.

These women are probably just a little rebellious as well. These ladies aren't afraid to think about stretching or bending, or even breaking, the rules. When she gets a tattoo, she is making the clear statement, "This is me, and I am proud of it!" No one else is going to define femininity or womanhood for this person. When she is ready to get a tattoo, it doesn't matter what anyone else thinks.

These women are quick-witted as well. Even though it is not fair, many people condescend toward women with tattoos. Therefore, even though this tattoo is undeniably sexy, this lady is aware that she will have to conceal it at times. Her back is the perfect location for a tattoo - she can flaunt her masterpiece by wearing short shirts and low-rise jeans, but when she needs to cover it up for business, she can hide her secret safely with a well-tailored suit.

The back is both sexy and clever. Men find a woman's back very appealing. Those tempting, soft curves are covered by silky smooth, soft skin. The woman who gets a sexy tattoo on her back is attracting attention to one of her most attractive features.

Another great reason to choose the back for a tattoo is that it won't hurt too badly. Some places on the body have more nerve endings than others. The wrist, for example, or the neck are frequently very painful. The skin on the back is not as sensitive, and because it is not exposed to the elements, it will hurt less and heal quickly.

The most important thing to remember about sexy back tattoos is that YOU are what makes them sexy! You can tattoo anything you want - your name, a flower, a knot, or a symbol - whatever is important to you. The sexy part is how you wear the tattoo, and when you've made such an empowering decision, you've got every reason to flaunt it.

Want To Download Anime Movies? Know Your Options!

By Davion Wong

There are plenty of people who want to download anime movies. Anime is the latest trend to hit the market. Many people see this as a form of art and expression, dealing with themes that are contemporary and relevant. Young people in particular like anime movies. Buying DVDs often do not fit in the budget of teens who love anime.

Before you make your decision, you have to know what all options are available to you to download anime movies. Only then can you decide which is right for you and make your choice.

1. File Sharing Networks

Just as anything downloadable, there are anime movies that you can find on torrent or file sharing websites. Except that they are free of cost, there is no other advantage to these sites. They are slow in downloading, have non-stop annoying pop-up ads and are absolutely unprotected from all kinds of malware and viruses. But the most disappointing thing happens, when even after going through all the risks to download an anime movie of your choice, you may get the worst quality or an incomplete movie.

2. Privately Run Websites

A few anime enthusiasts come together and set up their own website, where they allow users to download anime movies for free. The dubbing or subtitles are normally done by the site owners themselves, and in most cases the quality is rather poor, because what they put up for download is actually illegal stuff. You do not have to be told that copyright infringement is a crime.

3. Paid Movie Downloads

These sites charge for each download, and though the price can be as low as $1 per full movie, latest additions as well as highly popular stuff will cost more. If you are looking to create your own library of anime movies, this option can turn to be quite costly.

4. Pay Once Websites

This option lets you pay a lifetime membership fee, just once, and then you can download anime movies to your heart's content. You can choose from the huge databases these sites offer and never pay anything after obtaining a membership.

The choice make depends on your requirements. File sharing networks and private websites might be free, but there are too many risks for you to be comfortable with either option. The paid movie downloads might be out of your budget, unless you just want a movie or two. Once you weigh all the factors, the one-time payment websites might be the best option for you to download anime movies.

Small Girl Tattoo Designs: Little Space, Big Impact

By Tim Croy

Choosing a tattoo can be a painfully tedious process. Many factors are involved, including pain, cost, design, location, and size. One way to resolve many of these simultaneously is to consider small girl tattoo designs.

If you're on a budget and your primary concern is cost, a small tattoo is a great choice. It might seem obvious, but it's true: when it comes to tattoos, you do get what you pay for. When you choose bigger tattoo designs, you are covering more of your body in ink, so you're going to pay more money. Smaller tattoos therefore cost less.

Another thing to consider is your tolerance for pain. Are you tough and ready to endure hours under the tattoo gun, subjected to thousands of needle pricks? If not, a small design is probably a better choice. Tattooing less skin means less skin will hurt in the morning.

Where do you want your tattoo to be placed on your body? Location is everything. Where you get your tattoo will play a large role in determining what kind of tattoo you get - and vice versa. If you have already decided on a design, make sure you think about how it will look in a specific place.

If you want to get your tattoo on your back, for example, you have considerable freedom. Your back is a large space with smooth skin, and it is one of the easiest places for tattoo artists to reach. Of course, a small tattoo on your back can also make a big statement, so don't feel like you have to choose a large tattoo in this situation.

Perhaps, like many women, you are considering a tattoo designed on your ankle. If this is true, it is wise to select a smaller design. Because the ankle is such a small body part, large designs just don't work well at this location.

Be practical with this form of creativity, as well as artistic. If you have searched online and found a particular style of artwork that you prefer, ensure that the cost isn't more than you can manage and that the tattoo will work well in the desired location. The best masterpiece can be appalling in a bad location or position.

As you evaluate each of these factors, remember that whether you like the design is the foremost consideration of all. Because countless styles of small girl tattoo designs are available, select the one that is best for you and your lifestyle.

Ratatouille Is Tasty Film Fare

By Steve Collins

Ratatouille, the eighth Pixar production, is a scrumptious treat. The irony of the kitchen's most horrifying menace, a rat, becoming a culinary hero is too ironic to resist-at least, that is what Pixar thought of the idea when it was introduced in 2001. The name comes from a French recipe and translates literally to "toss food." It is difficult to imagine a more fitting title for this film.

The hero of the film, Remy, is a rat with unique dreams of becoming a chef, and he has a real talent. Washed ashore in the sewers of Paris, he observes a gourmet restaurant's garbage boy boggle soup destined for a critic. Remy jumps in and saves the day. When the soup turns out to be a hit, the garbage boy (hilariously named Alfredo Linguini) finds himself stuck with the impossible task of recreating the soup. Thus, an unusual team is born. Remy, hiding beneath Alfredo's toque hat, proceeds to direct the clueless boy's movements by tugging at his hair, not unlike a puppeteer would direct a marionette. Consequently, Alfredo gains a reputation for being a star chef.

As in all the Pixar productions, the animation is spectacular, and the creators found themselves doing some pretty strange homework to create their effects. For months, caged rats lived in the studio hallway as movement models. Fruits and vegetables were photographed in various stages of decomposition. One man was elected to go swimming in a chef's coat and toque to see where the articles would stick to his body when wet. The most challenging assignment? A week in Paris studying the finest restaurants of Paris!

Ratatouille is a culinary tour de force which many critics, among them A.O. Scott of the New York Times and Scott Foundas of the L.A. Weekly, count among the top ten films released in 2007. Nominated for five Academy Awards, Ratatouille is a rich, film you will want to watch many times

Download Full Version Games, Avoiding The Common Risks

By Davion Wong

Once you have your little wonder gizmo, the PSP, you will want to download full version games online. That is, after all, the whole point of having it in the first place. And everywhere you look, you will find plenty of opportunities to download them.

Making a choice can be difficult, though. When you see website upon website with all sorts of offers to download full version games, it can be difficult to decide just which offer to choose. Each offer seems to be just too good to be true - unbelievable choice, free games, the works. But there are some things you can to keep in mind before you make that choice.

1. Very slow downloading. You will have to be prepared to wait for quite a long time for your games. You might eventually be able to download full version games, but you will have to wait for hours, sometimes even for a day. The download speed will be very slow, especially since the site will impose download limitations.

2. Corrupt files. What often comes next after the download is finally complete is realization that the file is junk. It is totally unplayable - neither on your computer nor PSP. So, your time is wasted and your expectations are let down.

3. Infected files - they are a very real danger on the Internet. Freeware will usually have adware. When you download full version games from these sites, you might get more than you bargained for - viruses and spyware. This will mess up your computer, and if you are unlucky enough, your PSP too may get affected.

4. Law violation. You have to be aware that a good number of these sites infringe copyright laws. When you download from these sites, you will also be breaking the law. These sites may let you download full version games, but whether you download from these sites, you will become party to a serious offence.

5. No proper technical support. When you are new to PSP downloads, you may need to clarify a lot of things. Yet, many sites fail to provide proper instructions and technical support. Even the FAQ section is sometimes rather vague, leaving you helpless and frustrated.

If you want to make sure that you do not run into all of these problems, you will have to choose to patronize authorized websites. The catch is that they will charge subscription fees as well as for each download. They will guarantee safe files and good selection, but at a steep price. However, now you can download full version games and still strike a happy mean. There are legitimate sites where you will not have to pay, breaking your heart.

These sites offer their services for a lifetime membership fee, which you will only have to pay once. Some sites that offer these services under these conditions and even offer free trials are PSP Blender and also All PSP Games. You will get safe files and you can choose from a large database of games. So, you can now download full version games safely and get the best deal available online.

Why I Purchased Disney's Cars from the Disney Movie Club

By Steve Collins

The 2006 animated feature film Cars is a flick that will entertain everyone in the family. In a world populated entirely by vehicles, Cars carries a message of good sportsmanship and examines the idea of success and how it is achieved. The seventh Pixar film (the final one before Disney took over) is as stunning as its predecessors.

Cars boasts an excellent soundtrack and the voice talents of a great cast which includes Paul Newman in his last part before retiring. Joining him are Bonnie Hunt, George Carlin, Cheech Marin, John Ratzenberger, and Owen Wilson, among others. The film begins and ends on the track, and appropriately enough, its June 2006 premier was at Lowe's Speedway in North Carolina. In between, the action plays out in Radiator Springs, a Route 66 town overlooked because of the interstate.

Lightning McQueen is the film's main character. The action centers on his quest to reach California to compete in a match race between the three cars tied for first place in the Piston Cup. Separated from his entourage as they travel west, he lands in Radiator Springs and hot water. He finds himself in trouble being prosecuted by Sally Carerra, who eventually becomes McQueen's girl. He is sentenced to road paving duty and chafes under the assignment in his desperation to get to California. During his days in Radiator Springs, he meets an old racing hero, Hudson Hornet, whom the town knows as Doc. Doc teaches Lighting a few difficult things about life, then kindly informs the media how to find him.

Once on the track in California, Lightning is too preoccupied by memories of Radiator Springs to be competitive, and all looks lost until Doc arrives with a well oiled pit crew of his own making. The race in his grasp, Lightning foregoes victory to practice the sportsmanship lessons he learned from Doc. In the end, the victor is booed and good sport Lightning is a hero.

The feel-good film enjoyed great success all across the globe and became the first animated film dubbed in Ukranian for its video release by Disney. On another unusual note, the Russian video's title translates to "wheelbarrows"-their slang term for cars. The global home video market for Cars is astounding, insuring that this movie is destined to become a classic.

Full Version Game Downloads - How to Smell Scams

By Davion Wong

Full version game downloads are sought after by every living game lover. Such a hobby is an expensive one. Everyone knows that. Each new release can easily cost you anything between $40 and $100. So when there are opportunities online for downloads that are either free or very cheap, people tend to thread carefully. After all, there have been reports of scams and so it is natural that people want to know how to sniff a scam out.

There is a common misconception about full version game downloads on the Internet - some users believe they are all scams or simply don't exist at all. Well, these sites are definitely there, very real and easily searchable in any search engine. But yes, unfortunately a handful of them are scams, no matter how reputable they seem to be and what position in search engine listings they occupy.

Some scam signs to look out for when finding full version game downloads online.

1. The site may claim to be free. While it is really free to join, you find that the selection of games they offer is really small and they are mostly old and outdated ones. The moment you try to access the download area for the new ones, you are required to pay for it.

2. The site promises to be free and it really is. You may even read that it is totally legal and protected from malware, viruses and so on. But in actual fact, there are notorious file sharing sites where full version game downloads get infected with badware. They are also pirated copies and not like what they claim as legitimate.

3. While the site claims to offer the largest game selection, you will find out shortly after paying for a time-based subscription that you cannot find your desired games. Sometimes, they may be found but simply not in the format that is compatible with your console.

Certain sites for full version game downloads may also give you corrupted or incomplete files that simply will not run. At times, users also complain about poor user platform which takes a rocket scientist to know how to use. These are so far the most common complaints by users.

So in order not to waste time on such sites, it is important to read reviews written about services for full version game downloads or to find out what their customers are saying about them.

Tips on how to hold the guitar

By Crazy Dave

Short Description: Like all other musical instruments the guitar also needs to be held properly if you want to master it. Learn the details in this article.

The long wait has ended. Now you have a guitar of your own and can't wait to play on it, can you?

Let's go ahead and take the first step towards mastering the instrument. Yes, you're absolutely right. We will begin with the intricacies of holding the instrument properly. It's an extremely important step since any awkward pose makes it really difficult to play even the simplest of melodies on it and you may soon drop the idea of becoming an accomplished guitarist.

The guitar should gently rest on your right thigh with strings and sound hole facing outwards. Its neck should point slightly upwards to your left; say 30 or so. This is the normal position of the guitar but if you are a leftie place it on your left thigh and let the neck point towards your right. Jimi Hendrix used to hold his legendary guitar in this way! In case you're wondering where and how you'd sit, all that I can say is sit in an upright posture. The front edge of a straight-backed chair would be ideal. You may also use a footstool to place your right foot on.

But remember, comfort and ease is the watchword. A slight deviation here and there which might make you more comfortable wouldn't bring the heavens crashing down.

Now that your legs taken care of, let's see where your arms should be. I've described here the hand positions for a right handed player - it'd be just the opposite for a left hander.

Gently wrap your right arm over the guitar and let the fingers hang loosely over the sound hole. These fingers would pick the strings. Place your arm in such a way that you don't require a lot of wrist movement while picking the strings. People have ended up with carpal tunnel syndrome while working hard on their guitar, so, be comfortable and relaxed while holding the instrument.

Let's now see how you place your left hand or the "fretting" hand, as it's often described. The reverse side of the neck is curved. So your left palm fits snugly over it. Bend your fingers till you can freely press the strings with your fingertips.

But what would the poor thumb do being left alone as it were! Let it arch over the neck while you're constructing chords. But when you're playing scales keep it at the back of the neck. These are general guidelines, the watchword as always is comfort and ease while you hold a guitar.

and cash ins and cheating online casinos

By Steve Briggs

So you got cheated by an online casino and now want to know what course of action to take to get satisfaction?

A good question because you've likely reached a point of no return if you are reading this article and found it googling the keywords "casino didn't pay me" or "casino cheating player out of payment" , "non paying online casino" and a number of other phrases I hope you will never have to enter into a search engine. Lets examine what you could have done to have avoided where you ended up because frankly if you've been rude to casino support then you probably are screwed though I will be happy to write the casino and see what I can do?

First and foremost you can greatly cut down the chances of getting cheated by choosing your online casinos from reputable online casino portals or gambling guides. They exist for more than just being a page of links to casinos. It is an industry which is very active in lobbying change for better player conditions including payment options and down time between cash-ins and payments. Plus we continually strive for more casino transparency in all of its financial transactions so there is no room for player doubt in the integrity of the casinos promoted by reputable gambling guides.

The casino portal community has been responsible for many players getting paid money that they would otherwise have never seen because when the veteran portal owner enters the picture the casinos must then consider they won't just be losing this one player if they don't pay .... they'll risk losing their reputation to the entities who represent the largest percentage of any one group of players coming into the casino. Most times even the dumbest casino management can recognize this is no recipe for success although I have also seen some times where it took extreme pressure from the entire community of gambling guides in order to get a casino to do the right thing. And often times before that success is enjoyed the guides experience stretches of non-communication or out and out refusal to reconsider a decision. We don't give up easily though and you eventually learn once a casino denies a cash-in it becomes a game of patiently firm insistence.

Often times it involves about 3 emails back and forth to the casino. Each time getting bumped up to someone else who will make the decision or change of decision about paying the player. Although this is true in most cases it is especially true that you have all your ducks in a row .... meaning every single requirement by the casino including any ID info faxed into the casino before having me step into the picture. These are things explained in easy to understand text that is found somewhere in the casino or on the casino website under terms for cash ins. Most cases the cashier will have emailed explicit instructions of what to fax them. These things all must be done before any gambling guide can step in and be of any help to your cause.

I'm afraid there is just too much to fit this all into one article but the above should get you started in the right direction. The most important thing to remember is to never burn your bridges when dealing with online casino support or cashiers. You may not be able to find satisfaction through them but if you are not rude or hostile then you leave the door open for a gambling guide to step up on your behalf and perhaps find you satisfaction where there would have been none.

Help grease the hinges on that door by establishing a more personal relationship with the support person. It is likely by this point you are corresponding with one person. If not then adopt the policy that whenever you feel uncomfortable about a situation or there are more than an email or two involved .. you should by now know that person's name and use it two or even three times in your email (not more than once a paragraph and never use it in all the paragraphs: treat that agent like they were your friend and everything is casual, you are "inquiring when you were told to enquire": or "its been a week and I have heard nothing from you and was wondering on the progress of my issue?" Sometimes you may not be successful but when you are finally ready to hand it over to the professionals, they will have a much greater chance at achieving the desired goal of getting your money ... if you have an agent who thinks kindly of you and then gets a flattering letter from a gambling guide stating how the word was spreading amongst his peer at the portal webmaster community that maybe the casino we all thought had a bad reputation: wasn't deserving of that title. And that we appreciated the personal effort given by that agent towards satisfying the player's issue and returning a competent, reasonable explanation as to why their was a hold up on the payment process? Note that never was it mentioned a worry about getting paid, just a concern of when? Gambling guides and casino portals by nature are in a position to achieve what the average player cannot get done. And many of us consider it part of our job to use this power to help. But we have to be asked or we don't know.

One final thing today. if you do get help from a gambling guide remember we work on commission. No I don't mean we want a percentage of the money we helped you get from the casino. I mean the next time (which should be now) you seek another online casino please remember who it was that helped you and give their site the attention and loyalty that you were shown from that site owner when you were in need. If we stood up for you when we didn't have a financial interest then its likely we will be there for you when you do repay our favor. Thank you for your time.

Complimentary Disney Movie Club Membership Offer

By Sume Diang

One of the most recognized names in the known universe is Walt Disney. The mere mention of Disney conjures up pleasant memories of colorfully animated cartoons, amazing attractions at the Disney amusement parks, and, of course, the ever popular mouse ears. For almost ninety years, Disney has been connected with fun, but how did it all happen?

The Disney story had its genesis back in the 1920's. Walt Disney dedicated himself to learning the art of cartooning and convinced his brother, Roy, to help him. They co-founded a fledgling cartoon studio in their uncle's garage and went to work. The character for which they are usually remembered, Mickey Mouse, first debuted in a little film called Plane Crazy. A distributor could not be found, however, and the cartoon everyone remembers, Steamboat Willie, was made as a "talkie." The rest is history.

In 1932 he was awarded a unique Academy Award, his first, for the creation of Mickey Mouse, Walt Disney went on to earn an unprecedented sixty-four Academy Award nominations, taking home twenty-six of the coveted statures.

Disney began working on longer animated films, including the first of the feature length animated cartoons so fondly remembered by millions. When plans for the making of Snow White were revealed, the industry snickered and called it Disney's Folly. That folly became a phenomenal from the day it debuted in 1937. Snow White launched the Golden Age of Disney, and was quickly followed by Pinocchio, Fantasia, and perhaps the most cherished of all, Bambi.

Disney never stopped entertaining. Each new generation found something to love, whether it was those initial fantastic feature length cartoons on the big screen, the black and white Mickey Mouse Club on TV, the incredible theme parks, or the computer animated flicks of the modern era.

Many generations of Americans have now been raised on Walt Disney. Sharing favorite movies and anticipating vacations to Disneyland or Disney World still draw folks closer. Complimentary Disney Movie Club membership makes it simpler than ever to build a collection of favorites. Browsing the extensive list of Disney flicks will bring back a flood of fond memories.

Simple Magic Coin Tricks

By Natalee Val

Magic coin tricks can be relatively easy to learn and are fun to perform. They take some practice to perfect, but it is worth it.

You'll need two coins to perform your first magic coin trick. A nickel and a penny are the best to use.

To begin this trick, you will need one of the coins in the hand of someone in your audience. They will need to hold the coin with their palm facing upward with the coin sitting in the hand.

Now you'll tell everyone that you'll be able to grab the coin before the volunteer can close their hand. You'll position your hand just over the coin in your volunteer's hand, with your fingers slightly spread.

Now you'll try to pick up the coin using just your first three fingers and your thumb.

Your volunteer is going to think they can be a lot faster than you. They'll be further encouraged when they still feel this circular, flat object in the palm of their hand. But, it turns out to be another coin!

It can be a lot of fun to learn magic coin tricks, but occasionally you'll need help from someone who knows what you're doing. So ask someone to assist you, and make sure it's a friend who won't reveal your secret.

Do begin, put the coin on the palm of your friend's hand and then put the other coin in your hand, right in that crease between the forefinger and thumb. Now position your hand so it looks as if you're going to grab for the other person's coin.

Just as you are about to snatch that coin away, tell your friend to slowly close their fingers since you're still learning how to do this trick. Then you'll pick up the coin and very quickly swap it with the other coin you've been holding, just in the same exact place.

Now tell your friend to close up their hand. As you keep practicing, you'll get better and faster at it. Your friend will then be able to close their hand as fast as they possibly can.

Once you're comfortable and good at the trick, it's time to perform it for an audience. Remember, don't halt the trick by showing the coin you took from the volunteer. Let them discover the different coin in their hand when they open up their fist.

Magic coin tricks like this are popular with kids.

Online Slot Machine Games Draw Bad Advice from Online Writers

By Philips Vault

There is some really bad slot machine advice or call it slot game strategy, which is appearing on the net in recent times. I found it so outrageous that at first I thought it was a joke. Most people who have gambled to any extent understand slot games well enough to play them and know to always bet the max amount in order to be eligible for the jackpot if lucky enough for it to hit. I think that is a given with most of you.

This goofy strategy which is aimed at those playing slot machine games online, is called the steps or the stepping ladder, perhaps the stepping stone. I wish I'd paid better attention to the name of the slot strategy now. Anyhow it suggests the player find a 3 coin machine and play one coin at a time ... only increasing to two coins whenever you win something back from the previous slots spin and then finally increasing to 3 coins bet if you win two spins in a row. It almost assures the player will never hit a win while playing 3 coins at a time because regardless of the fact that each spin is separate from the last and the next one ... I ask you: how often do you hit 3 wins in a row when playing a slot machine?

I won't argue the fact that the truly big wins or jackpots can happen at any time and they are unlikely to be effected on the timing of the payout because a small payout came before, or even if two came before. But what concerned me was how often do you hit a mixed bar win (such as a single, double and triple bar all lining up on the payline) which pays about fifteen times the investment. These little wins are what keep you playing until you can hit a big win. This steps strategy in my opinion will lead players into a scenario where they are losing most the times they are betting 3 coins ... because they had to hit two wins in a row to be able to bet the 3 coins. Truly ... how often do you hit 3 wins in a row on a slots machine?

Perhaps the math whizs in Vegas could tell me whether my suspicions are correct? But until they tell me different I cannot help but feel this "steps" betting system is a really bad idea for slots players. A quick glance at just a few of the triple coin slot machine games online revealed that some of the machines have more than a 50% difference between the payout on the 2nd coin and the payout on the 3rd coin (max bet). Out of the twenty or so online slot machine games that I checked I found none in the 3 coin category this strategy would be beneficial in any significant way.

I did find one two coin online slot machine game which had no extra benefit for betting the maximum amount where the steps strategy would at least not hurt the player significantly but there still is the fact that most slot machine wins do not come back to back meaning once again you'd be making your big bets while riding a win from a single coin win.

Frankly it sounds more like a system designed to give you the ultimate rush by following a win with a bet that is twice or three times the norm. And then the times you did hit with all three coins bet you'd be extra gleeful coming off two wins and then hitting that third with all three coins bet. I'm sure its a system that provides maximum rush for your gambling dollar but not so sure about the math using that strategy. If I had to guess it would be that the steps gambling strategy is at best harmless and at worst case is having the player making their biggest bets at the worst times.

My personal method for playing slots does mimic the steps in an abstract way. I believe you should bet at lower credit values but max credits bet. So instead of playing with credit values of one dollar and betting only one coin (equals one dollar), I would play with credit values of one quarter of a dollar and bet the three coin max. It saves me one fourth the cost if I had been playing single one dollar coins while giving me a jackpot expectation of ...

Well lets take an average three coin slot machine game powered by Microgaming software, the leader in the industry. I went with "Fantastic Seven" slots game which has three coin max bet which pays a jackpot of 500 credits on the first coin, 1000 credits on the second coin bet and 2500 on the third coin which is of course the maximum amount of credits you can wager. According to my math the 2500 jackpot would pay $625 with an original whopping wager of $.75 cents. if I had bet $1 playing credit values of one dollar my jackpot payout would be $500. So it costs less to win more when you play only max bets. *Please note that not all slot machine games on line pay the same schedule. The gap between coin two and max bet is almost always considerable however it can vary in either direction.

Good luck and thank you for your time.

HOW TO FIND THE BEST DIGITAL CAMERA

By Dan Feildman

Digital cameras come in many sizes, colors, brands, zooms, resolutions, playbacks, etc. There are so many features and qualities that are being placed in the devices that buyers especially first timers become overwhelmed and dizzy with these outstanding arrays of gadgets. This is even without including the various advertisements and different ratings that are used to promote these products.

After spending sizeable amount of time at the mall figuring out which is the best digital camera for us, we finally have enough money to buy for that eye-popping, 7 mega pixel, 10x digital zoom, potable, candy colored, up to 512MB expandable memory of super hi-speed SD memory card and not to mention very portable, (that will be the envy of almost everyone we know). We march to the mall armed with our life savings and lotsa pride in ourselves, when we pass by a new display - an eight mega pixel, up to 1G expandable memory, with built it mic and stereo surround, video playback capable, with 22 scenic modes kind-of-camera. And we sigh because the producer of this amazing gadget claims that this is the best digital camera yet out in the market. And so as we always want to have the best, armed with our life savings and a few credit cards, we buy the "best digital camera." But then again, that doesn't last too long, after two months or so, there's another "best digital camera."

What do you want to take with your digital camera? Before you buy digital camera, it is important to determine what kind of pictures you want to take with it. If you are a digital photography enthusiast, any digital camera will not just do. You have to look for features that can support the zooming you need, the resolution. How much is your budget? This is a very important question any person who intends to buy digital camera should ask. Because no matter what your needs and wants are for the device, your financial resource will play a huge part in dictating the type of digital camera you will buy.

What are you resources? When you buy digital camera, sometimes the spending does not end there. You also have to consider the capacity and the power of the computer and the printer you will be hooking your camera with for your editing and printing needs. Editing software are already included when you buy digital camera but other devices aren't. Aside from a printer, ink and paper for printing, you might also need additional memory cards for your camera and a more powerful computer to support image editing and image storage and retrieval. After answering these 3 questions, the second set of information you need to know before you buy digital camera are the features that you need in the device. These are:

Image quality. Check the resolution of the camera. The higher the resolution, the more thou will be able to enlarge your picture without the grainy or the out-of-focus effect that we all want to avoid. Lens. Choose a digital camera with better digital zoom. The digital zoom of the camera will enable you take the pixels from the image sensor and incorporate them to make an image.

MEMORY CARD. Always make sure that your memory card is the right one for your digital camera. There are different types of memory card like the xD, SD, Flash card and the likes. And these types of memory cards go with certain types of digital cameras. of course memory storage is also up there in choosing the best digital cameras. Choose the size of memory that you need, if you're a photo junkie, you might need more than 32MB. Memory cards can go up to 1G.

The key point to find the best digital camera is to find one that will best fit you and your lifestyle. Don't just buy the latest or the one that claims they are the best digital cameras out in the market. You wouldn't want to buy a DSLR and use it with your home activities or family outing and have to lug it around?! Or you don't want to buy the latest point and shoot camera when you're serious about being a professional photographer. (Of course, you can use this for starters, but if you're not a novice photographer anymore, you wouldn't want to get this kind of camera.)

Special features. Special features that will suit your needs should be thought about, too before you buy digital camera. If you want your camera to have good zooming, you can opt for those with optical zoom lenses. A diopter adjustment on the digital camera's viewfinder will also be beneficial to those who regularly wear glasses and wish to buy digital camera. Other features such as remote control, tripods, etc. can also be considered when you buy a digital camera. With these information, you can now figure out what you really need and want before you buy digital camera. If you want to see ratings and rankings of these devices based on price, resolution or other features, check out various websites that have these in the Internet.

Fisher Price Digital Cameras : Choosing The Right Childs Camera

By Helen Jarman

Digital cameras come in every size, shape, color, and price range these days. Obviously, adults enjoy the benefits of digital photography, but what about children? Should a child have a digital camera? Some experts say that when children take photographs, they learn to see the world around them from a different perspective and they sometimes show enhanced creativity. As a parent, you'll have the privilege of seeing things from their perspective and may even learn new things about your child through the pictures they take with their own camera.

There are several levels of digital cameras on the market today and several are perfectly good entry-level models for children preschool age, up to teenagers. What should a parent consider when looking for a digital camera for their child? Ease of use, photo quality, automated features and durability are just a few criteria to consider.

A toddler, preschooler, or early elementary child will do well with a basic and sturdy digital camera. Look for one that is designed for little hands to grip and hold easily. Flash and focus features should be completely automatic, and the memory card should hold several photographs at one time. Fisher Price makes durable digital cameras specifically for little ones. The color LCD screen is 1.3" across so children can immediately see the picture they just took and show it to everyone in the family too. Children can use this camera like a pair of binoculars with the camera's two-eye viewing feature, which makes it especially fun for them to scout out their next picture. Fisher Price makes these cameras in bright colors for added kid appeal too. There is even a USB cord included with the camera so your child's pictures can easily be transferred to the computer, once again freeing up storage space for more picture adventures.

Children who are between early elementary age and middle school age will enjoy even an inexpensive digital camera, as long as it takes decent photographs. Look for a sturdily built digital camera, because children this age often tend to drop things on a regular basis, including cameras. Find a middle of the road camera that has automated features for the most part, but allows some control over flash and zoom capabilities. Some digital cameras for this age include special effects features like clip art and captions and possibly the ability to take short movie clips with audio. Girls in this age range will probably want to accessorize their digital camera with a cute camera case and strap.

By the time your children reach middle school and grow into older teenagers, a digital camera that looks and functions more like an 'adult' camera, can be purchased for a reasonable price. Depending on how much your child enjoys taking photos, look for a camera with more advanced features and more control over the zoom and flash features. They'll likely be taking more photographs at this age, so look for a digital camera that has expandable memory options available as well.

Whether you spend $60 or $100, the price range is reasonable when purchasing a digital camera for your child. Older children could be encouraged to help save toward purchasing one themselves. Younger children might be more willing to complete their chores if they know the money they earn will go toward a digital camera they want.

The good news is that digital cameras for children have come down in price dramatically, so purchasing one for your child, regardless of their age, is within most parents' financial reach.

Photography Through the Ages

By Dan Brown

In any discipline, you will have what many think of as "the purists". Purists are those who revere the way things have always been done and view new innovations in the field as upstarts and obviously of poorer quality than the tried and true methods. This is nowhere more true than photography. For decades the film and chemical processing method has undergone continual refinement to achieve higher and higher levels of sophistication and to find higher levels of quality. Small wonder that when the digital revolution came along, "the purists" were, to say the least, a bit snobby about the idea of professional photography moving in this direction.

Let's fill in a few gaps. We can go back to the origins of the language to find that the word "photography" began in the Greek times and it literally means "drawing with light. But the actual science of photography did not really take off until the 1800's in this country when a fellow by the name of John Hershel applied the words "photography", "positives" and "negatives" to the task of producing pictures. We had "negatives" of our photos from then until the dawn of digital photography in the last few years.

Probably the biggest leap forward in the use of digital photography is that you can do re-shoots quickly, easily and for virtually no cost. If you conduct a portrait session with a customer, you can have the "stills" of the session available almost as soon as the session is done. If a shot was good but not perfect, you can correct it and re-shoot immediately saving huge amounts of time and improving the chances you will get the portfolio you want and that the customer wants on the first session.

The developments began to come along pretty routinely as photography began to mature and become more sophisticated. Color photography was developed in 1861 by a scientist named James Clark Maxwell. Up until then all photographs were black and white or monochrome. Color photography was a huge leap forward but it really did not start to move into the public arena until two brothers named Lumire in 1907 invented the color plate. Over the decades to follow, photography moved forward steadily and moved out of the world of science and then journalism and into each of our homes. But the revolution that has turned photography into what we know it to be today occurred in 1981 when Sony invented the first camera that worked without film. The digital age was upon us.

Digital photography, being a child of the internet and the digital revolution that has swept our lives via personal computers, can be delivered in a myriad of ways and at a speed that was unheard of prior to the arrival of this technology. We can deliver the photos via email, by posting them to an online gallery or by burning them to a DVD or CD so the customer can order lots more shots for the same cost and have them delivered in a way that easy to view and store.

It's true that the mechanical skill that the guy at Wal-Mart might need to take baby pictures may be the same as a great photographic artist might need. But the objection doesn't hold up because the same human language is used to create great poetry as it takes yell out obscenities at a baseball game. So it isn't the skill that makes it art.

Good evidence comes from the credit some great art experts have given to photographic exhibitions in the fine museums in the world. The very fact that photography is considered art by those who know may be evidence enough. So the conclusion must be that because the arguments against the artistic value of photographs are weak and people who know consider photography to be art, then we are safe in viewing what we do artistically too. And that opens up that side of your soul to express yourself through the medium you love the most - photography.

Why I Purchased Peter Pan from the Disney Movie Club

By Steve Collins

Based on the famous play, and succeeding novel, by J.M. Barrie, "Peter Pan" had been slated to follow the wild success of "Bambi." Walt Disney had planned to make the film as early as 1939, even going so far as to parley the rights with the Great Ormond Street Hospital (who had been given the rights to play by Barrie). The outbreak of World War II waylaid the production until 1949. The film was not released until 1953.

Disney was intent on casting an authentic boy to voice Peter Pan, though the character had been portrayed by a young woman to that point in time. Indeed, the characters of Nana and the Crocodile (renamed Tick-Tock and Croc) were drawn as animals, where they had been portrayed by actors on stage. In the 1911 novel, Nana was described as a Newfoundland dog, but it was drawn as a St. Bernard in the movie. The most beloved and long-lasting character, next to Peter, was Tinker Bell. Rather than a ray of light, the fairy was depicted as a green-clad, winged young lady. To this day, Tinker Bell is one of the most fashionable Disney characters. When she dies in the play, the children in audience are told to clap to bring her back to life - this, of course, is not included in the movie.

In the novel, Captain Hook is eaten by the Crocodile, whereas in the movie he is constantly evading the reptile's jaws. Likewise, in the play Hook loses his right hand, but the animators felt this would seriously impair his movements, so they decided on the left hand. One of the few traditions carried over from the play concerns using the same actor (in this case the voice actor) to play both Captain Hook and Mr. Darling. Indeed, Hans Conried, the voice actor, was the live-action study for all of Captain Hook's movements as well.

The story of "Peter Pan" involves the boy who will never grow up, Peter Pan, enticing the Darling children, Wendy, John, and Michael, to join him on his adventures in Never Land. Once there, they join Peter as he battles his arch rival, the pirate Captain Hook. Tinker Bell soon begins to resent Peter's time with Wendy and inadvertently betrays Peter and the Lost Boys to Hook.

The film features three songs by Sammy Cahn and Sammy Fain that have since become classics of modern soundtrack music. The songs are "You Can Fly," "The Second Star to the Right," and "Your Mother and Mine."

"Peter Pan" remains one of Walt Disney's most well-liked and requested movies to date. It is ranked in the upper echelon of Disney films, including such classics as "Snow White," "Bambi," and "Cinderella."

Are you running short of ideas for your articles? Is generating fresh ideas for writing becoming difficult? By following the techniques discussed in this article, you will be an article generating power house.

1. Subscribe to a dozen RSS feeds on various subjects you are most interested in. Scan through the feeds every morning or at night and select a few articles for thorough reading. After reading the articles, tag them using your own classification system.

Classifying articles in different categories helps locate them quickly. Use Google's RSS reader for reading and tagging the RSS feeds. You will have access to your categorized articles from any computers connected to the Internet.

2. Subscribe to a few print magazines and read them regularly. After you finish reading an article, record the main points of the article in a Google note. You will have access to these notes anywhere in the World.

3. Use a PDA and carry it with you wherever you go. Better yet, get a PDA with a camera and cell phone. You will only carry one gadget for all your communication, organization, and content generation needs.

Take pictures of interesting places, events, and moments you come across in your daily life. Use the voice recorder of the PDA to record whenever an idea hits you. Every night, transfer the ideas from your PDA to Google notes and upload your pictures to flickr.

4. Scan through the comments posted by others on the online articles you read regularly. Record interesting ideas, pros and cons of an issue, and strong opinions posted by others in your Google notes. Leverage the wisdom of the crowd.

5. Have lunch with friends at least once a week. Bounce ideas off them on any topic. Mix ideas from divergent topics to create new ideas in you own subjects.

6. Use the time like driving, watching TV while exercising in a treadmill, etc. to think about your favorite topics and try to relate to things you observe on the road and on the TV. When you get an idea, record it in your PDA.

7. Go through all the ideas and articles you have recorded in Google notes and your RSS reader to create new ideas by giving new twists to the old ideas. Combine two or more ideas and change or improve an existing idea to come up with your own idea.

8. Use a variety of online tools like Technorati, Digg, Delicious, etc. for writing inspiration. Every hour, hundreds of new articles and news stories are posted in these sites. Quickly scan them to hit a few gold nuggets that can serve as springboards for new ideas.

9. Using on-line tools discussed earlier, select an issue and jot down all the pros and cons. Search Google to enhance the idea by adding more pros and cons. Once you have collected a dozen diverse opinions, you will be able to write an article based on those facts in a pro-con format.

10. If you are good at using data for analysis and comfortable in the use of a spreadsheet, draw charts in the spreadsheet and look for patterns in the data. Provide you own interpretation to the data. Illustrate your articles with charts and graphs.

11. To generate topics for your article, use overture keyword selector. Select a single keyword and run it through the overture. You will see a dozen or more keywords based on the search popularity. Copy a few selected keywords to a notepad. Now, take each keyword and do a search in online sites like Digg, Technorati, etc. You will see a number of articles. Read them to generate ideas.

12. Ask yourself what if, what else, and why not questions on an issue and search the Internet to find answers from different sources. Create new ideas generated from existing materials, provide step-by-step guide for somebody to practice an obvious idea, or offer benefits of practicing an old idea.

Around the world Steven E is known as a highly successful publisher, entrepreneur, speaker, coach, mentor, and best-selling author. 7 Fast and Easy Guitar Scales Learning Tips

By E Walker

Scales are the key to advanced-level guitar playing. Here are the steps to mastering your scales and turning them into shreddin' lead guitar:

1) Learn and memorize each of the five pentatonic and seven diatonic scale patterns. Needless to say, this isn't going to happen overnight. Play each pattern straight from the lowest note of the pattern to the highest note of the pattern and back again. Don't do anything tricky with the pattern. Play each pattern starting as low on the neck as possible (open string or first fret), play the pattern across all six strings and back, then move up one fret and repeat the same pattern. Continue to move up one fret at a time until you've played the pattern at every fret you can comfortably play. Consider this one "round" of playing a pattern. It may take you 10 or 20 or more rounds to even begin to become fluent with the pattern. Personally, I put in hundreds, probably thousands, of rounds of each scale pattern over the course of a few years in my teens and early twenties. In all honesty, that's what it takes.

2) Then start working on the patterns using exercises - the kind that have you play sequences of scale notes that are not just playing straight from the lowest note to the highest note. Exercises like this can be found on the net, and there are dozens of them in my course, Logical Lead Guitar, demonstrated on DVD and written out in tab and notation. These exercises help you to become fluent playing the scale patterns in a non-scale-like fashion. And this is the all important bridge to actually being able to play lead guitar.

3) Next, begin doing what I refer to as "puzzle locking exercises." Scales fit together in one key up and down the neck like puzzle pieces, so you have to work on sliding from one scale pattern into the next pattern without going to the wrong fret. That's why I suggest these "puzzle locking exercises." There's a ton of them in Logical Lead Guitar, on DVD and in tab and notation.

4) Learn a melody - something really easy and familiar, such as "Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star" - in each of the scale patterns. No matter which melody you choose, you'll find that it's probably easier to play that melody in some scale patterns than others. After you've attempted enough different melodies, you'll usually find that there are certain melodies that work best in each of the five pentatonic or seven diatonic scale patterns, and not quite as well in the other patterns. And at first you might think that there are only a couple of patterns in which most melodies can be played very easily, and most of the other scale patterns are not so useful. But with time - and with the exploration of more melodies - you'll find that every one of the patterns has its strong points.

5) "Noodle around," as I call it, in each of the scale patterns. Plan on doing a lot of this, if you really want to become fluent at improvisation - creating your own unique solos - instead of simply knowing how to play other guitarists' solos. By noodle around, I mean that you should spend five or 10 minutes straight playing any and every simple, or even silly riff or melody that you can find in one pattern. Then choose another scale pattern and do it again for five or 10 minutes. You can easily do this unaccompanied, or you can put on a CD of some song by your favorite artist and play over the top of them. Really, you should use both techniques to really learn your chops. Actually, after you've done this a few times and have begun to feel comfortable doing so, it becomes kinda fun!

6) After doing plenty of noodling around in each of the patterns, you should have begun to find specific licks that work really well only in one specific pattern. You need to catalog these licks, at least in your mind, if not by writing them down (in tab or sheet music) or even by recording them so you can refer back to them in the months ahead.

7) Begin learning solos from your favorite artists, as close to "note-for-note" as you can. Use any resource you must to get the solo correct in the beginning - free tab off the Internet (many, if not most of these, are incorrect, however); the very accurate songbooks published by companies such as Hal Leonard, Mel Bay, Warner Bros., etc.; DVDs, such as the awesome Signature Licks series by Hal Leonard; or even from a teacher or friend. And here's a hint: If you are closer to beginner lead guitarist than expert, don't waste your time trying to run before you can walk. Whether you want to or not, you really need to learn simple, slower solos before you're going to be able to tackle something by Joe Satriani or Eddie Van Halen or Metallica or Avenged Sevenfold. Don't bother trying to fool yourself, you're just wasting time. Learn a couple of simple solos, then move up to intermediate solos, then start working on the harder stuff.

Acoustic Guitar World - Guide and Overview

By E Walker

The acoustic guitar has been around for centuries and is one of the most beautiful instruments available on the market to date. They range from the crummy plywood copies that you see in a pawn shop to the high end masterpieces that cost upwards of $15 000 - $40 000. This leaves a guitarist between a rock and a hard place with a lot of questions.

What qualifies as a great acoustic? Do they have to cost that much money? What makes up an acoustic? All of these questions and more will be answered in today's newsletter. Join us as we enter the acoustic world.

In this edition:

In addition to answering the above questions, we'll examine some great guitars that are affordable and offer amazing quality. Learn what to look for when shopping for a guitar and how you can get an instrument that fits your budget.

We'll also answer some great questions in the Feedback Booth. Without further adue, let's get started!

The Guitar That Started It All.

In the beginning.

We've all dreamt of that moment where we've finally saved up enough cash to get our dream acoustic. Whether you just want one on the side to enhance your playing skills, or you want to be known as the best acoustic guitarist the world has ever heard, you need to know what you want.

I remember the first time I saw an acoustic guitar that was priced at over $3000. My jaw dropped as I picked it up and began to play it. In my head, I just had to have this guitar. As I became more accomplished, I ran into more guitarists who paid upwards of $4000 for their axe's.

This seemed so unreasonable to me. Why did these guitars cost so much? What made them better than that $3000 "Professional" electric guitar? How could a guy like me get a good acoustic that could give me professional results for less money?

All of these questions rolled through my brain. When I started to research acoustics a few years ago, I soon learned of the complex construction and craftsmanship that goes into a well made acoustic. Unlike many electrics, building an acoustic involves far more than cutting the wood and sanding it to shape.

Internally, there is a lot that the eye doesn't see. Some of the finer attributes include bracing, wood choice, various joints, neck construction, and many other little touches that make a big impact on sound. All of these things take time to do, and a talented luthier to do them right.

The bottom line is that you get what you pay for. With lower end guitars, machines do all of the work. This makes for fast and easy production. They are reliable and somewhat precise, which usually gives people like you and I a half decent guitar to play.

However, if there's a lemon to be produced, it is usually traced back to a faulty robot. This is why the higher end guitars are mainly made by hand.

The more human contact, the finer the instrument. When you add up the cost of materials and craftsmanship, it's easy to see how the price skyrockets for some of these guitars. It's not unlike a custom motorcycle. You'll pay up to four times the cost but in the end you get something that fits you and is made from the finest parts.

The good news is that you can get great sounding acoustics for under $1000. You just need to do some research of your own and be patient when shopping. While many professional guitarists think that a professional acoustic starts at $5000, I firmly believe it starts at your finger tips.

Learn how to play well and you can make a $600 acoustic sound far more expensive. Keep this in mind and don't get bogged down by the music industries version of cool. We're going to run through the different components of an acoustic guitar and you'll be left with a new outlook on what qualities to look for in an acoustic.

Types of acoustics.

As you may have noticed already by walking into your local music store, there are many different kinds of acoustics out there. Some can act like an electric guitar, while others have 12 strings. Each class of acoustic has it's own purpose and produces a different tone.

The unfortunate thing about acoustics is that many guitarists buy them not knowing what they're buying. Perhaps you're style leads you to want to do plenty of on stage performances but the guy at the music store said you'd be fine with a regular acoustic without a pickup system. You'd just have to mic it.

However, you end up getting a lot of feedback as a result and spend more money in the long run because you ended up putting an additional pickup system. While the mic setup may have been the first choice for someone else, it didn't fit your lifestyle.

This doesn't have to be you! Lets take a closer look at what is available to us.

6 String Acoustic - This is the most popular acoustic sold on the market today. The prices range from the cheap to the extravagant. It uses six steel string to give it a more sharp attack to the notes.

12 String Acoustic - This acoustic consist of 12 strings, each one smaller than the acoustic strings. Essentially, each pair of strings has one tuned to the regular tuning and the other tuned to it's octave. This produces a very nice chorus effect, giving the impression of two acoustic guitars playing at once. They aren't good for starting off on as they tend to require a little more technique and finger strength to hold all of the strings down at once.

Classical Acoustic - The classical has been around for quite a while. It has three nylon strings and three steel. This makes playing it a breeze. The neck is considerably thicker than its 6 string steel counterpart but is great for a number of styles. Has a much mellower tone to it, which can be a plus or a set back depending on what you intend to use it for.

Acoustic/Electric - The acoustic electric is simply a six string acoustic with a pickup placed inside of it so you can amplify your acoustic. You can do this for classical or steel string. Some come with a pickup while others require you to buy them. Great for playing in public.

Tattoos for Girls Aren't Always Girly Any More

By Tim Croy

Both conservative and liberal people are aware of the feminist movement. Because of this movement, women have begun to challenge the idea that some roles are only available to men. Surprisingly, one of the places that this has begun to happen is in the tattoo parlor, because of the rapidly changing styles of tattoos for girls.

Countless magazines, movies, television shows, photographs, and magazine advertisement portray females with tattoos. Usually, they display tattoos on the ankle, lower back, or sometimes the hip. These women certainly look sexy with their tattoos. Typically, these tattoos feature butterflies, flowers, and other similar designs.

Each of these designs and body locations is popular for tattoos, for a logical reason. Tattoos located here are sexy, attractive to men, and the women wearing them aren't going to get tired of looking at them. For most ladies, this style of tattoo art is perfect. Many of these females have a feminine personality, and these tattoos are not so prominent that they will attract undue amounts of attention.

But if you're looking for something a little different in your tattoo, think outside the box. What are your favorite hobbies? If you like sports, maybe you can work that into your design. If you have a favorite quote, you can even get that tattooed, too. You can "feminize" these tattoo designs by choosing ornate embellishments, like vines or flowers.

Just because you're a girl doesn't mean that you've got to get tattooed like most people think girls "should" be tattooed. If you've got great arms and want to show them off, by all means, get your tattoo there! If you love your legs and want to draw people's eyes to them, ink those babies! Your whole body is your canvas.

For those who are undecided, however, consider fueling the fire of your creative juices. Browse through examples of tattoos that others have received. Consider chatting with friends and colleagues who have gotten tattoos, and ask their opinions for places to get ideas. Search the internet, or check out the local tattoo parlor to seek inspiration.

You can also try some less conventional methods. What's your favorite movie? Watch it again, and you might find the perfect idea. Do you have a favorite song, or a favorite band? Maybe one of their lyrics is right for you.

The most exciting part of getting a tattoo is that YOU are in charge. YOU choose the design. YOU pick the location. If you want a girly tattoo, get a girly tattoo, but remember that tattoos for girls don't always have to be girly any more.

How To Have Lead Guitar Lessons Without A Guitar

By E Walker

1) Draw neck diagrams and label the note names on the strings. This will improve your knowledge of the instrument, and solidify your ability to quickly jump to any note (like when a fellow musician tells you it's an A chord). Start with just one string, such as the low E string, and label every note: E, F, F#, G, G#, etc. Do this a few times for each string and you'll soon know your way around the guitar sooo much better than you do now!

2) Draw more neck diagrams and fill in scale patterns. You know that old joke about the school teacher making you write something stupid (I will not chew gum in class.) 100 times on the chalkboard? That teaching method may not have successfully kept you from chewing gum, but it will successfully help you memorize scale patterns.

Draw neck diagrams and put dots on the diagram in the shape of your five pentatonic patterns and seven diatonic patterns. Do this repeatedly, until you drill those patterns into your brain. Even without your guitar in hand, this exercise will improve your ability to memorize the 12 basic scale patterns you must know to play pro-level lead guitar.

3) Give your fingers a workout with a stress ball. A tennis ball, or any other squishy ball will work too. A big part of playing guitar satisfactorily lies in the development of the muscles in your fret hand and wrist. You'll recognize this fact real quick if you pick up an acoustic guitar and try to play lead guitar. You can do this at work, at school, or anytime actual playing is not an option - and it will improve your playing abilities!

4) Analyze the tablature in your favorite artists' songbook. Learning to read the most advanced tablature notation is not much easier than learning to read the actual sheet music - and it takes practice. Don't forget that there is usually a key to all the weird symbols - all those arrows and squiggly lines - in the back of many, if not most, song or method books. Study that key until you know what is meant by all those symbols, and then actually read through a few songs - all the way through. Your tab reading will become a whole lot easier after you've done this a few times.

5) Better yet, work on reading sheet music instead. It's not really as hard as it seems, but it absolutely takes practice. And sheet music has one huge advantage over tablature - it can tell you the actual rhythm of the music, which most tab does not. Start with easy stuff, such as a Guitar Method 1 type book where all you're expected to read is quarter notes and half notes, and only the notes as they fall on the low end of the neck in the key of C major (no sharps or flats to worry about!). Then work your way up from there.

Learning to read sheet music is a skill that can be built one step at a time, one new concept at a time. And you can practice reading without a guitar in hand, by simply picking up any piece of sheet music and literally reading it as if the notes were printed alphabet letters put into phrases and sentences, just like the ones you're reading right now! Understand that becoming really adept at sight-reading may actually take months or years, so be patient with yourself. But you're planning on playing your guitar for decades, right? The extra effort will pay off a thousand-fold!

Download Full Length Movies For Free - Consider Your Options

By Davion Wong

Daily, thousands of people types "download full length movies for free" in search engine boxes. Whereas it is easy to find good quality movie trailers and some videos, quality full length movies are not so common, and it does take time to locate a website that offers everything you ever wished in terms of movie selection and professional service.

First things first - can you really download full length movies for free? After all, if that is a viable option, how come most, if not all, DVD shops have not gone out of business? After all, who would choose to buy DVDs if they could download the movies for free!

Well, you actually can download full length movies for free. There are a couple of options you can choose from. The first option is to download from torrents, or file sharing P2P networks. The drawbacks are that these sites very rarely have good quality files, and that there might be a lot of infected files. The second option is to choose to download from websites that have databases of movies and do not charge you for downloads. Unfortunately, these sites only have oldies and classics, so if you are looking for the latest blockbusters, these sites can hardly help you.

People get attracted to the first option thanks to the perspective of watching all the latest and popular movies for free. They choose to ignore the poor quality of pirated copies and go ahead even being aware of all the potential risks, connected with such illegal activity. The second option is definitely a way to go, but only if you are not on the latest movie hunt.

The rest of the options may claim to be free, but they are not. Honest websites at least let you know the terms and conditions from the very beginning, while some scammers will try to cheat money out of you at a later stage, when you think you have almost got the desirable download.

However, if you are looking to download full length movies for free, including the latest blockbusters, but don't want to compromise on quality or your computer's security, some paid websites are definitely a good deal. They give you top service at a very nominal fee, which you have to pay only once. It can hardly be called a loss to your budget, because the fee often doesn't exceed the price of two good DVDs. So, ultimately, you can say you have found the way to download full length movies for free and with all the quality you deserve.

Achieving The Perfect Guitar Tone - Tonal Nirvana

By Eugene W

Come with us as we examine one of the most common guitar playing myths about guitar tone. Many think that buying expensive equipment will give you great sound. Join us as we discover what the true secret is to capturing professional sounding tones

There is one aspect of guitar playing that can be quite elusive, even for professional guitarists It can even become an obsession for those who can never seem to find it. This crucial and pivotal aspect of playing the guitar is the tone. Every individual who is serious about the guitar who strives to master the instrument understands that playing guitar is not simply about skill, but about playing that sounds good.

Trying to discover the perfect tone is like searching for the Holy Grail. You're not sure if it exists, but there are a lot of myths and stories that seem to offer clues about where it can be found. There are a lot of myths about how one can achieve the perfect tone and sound from their guitar, and just about all of them are false.

One popular myth about achieving great guitar tones is that you have to have a certain type of pickup. While certain brands and types of pickups can improve the quality of your overdrive tones and give you some nice bottom end and some sweet highs, these pickups still won't give you great tone. There are a lot of individuals who think that getting a new set of humbuckler pickups will solve their tone issues and that immediately they'll begin playing like Eric Clapton! These individuals drop a lot of money to get these pickups put into their guitar, only to plug in and find that the sound they're looking for still isn't there.

Another popular myth about guitar tone is that you have to have a Marshall half stack in order to get professional, warm sounding tones. A lot of individuals get duped into thinking that if they buy the most expensive amplifiers from the biggest brand names it will automatically give them professional quality tones. While it is true that top notch equipment can really help you to fine tune your sound and help you expand your creativity, it's still not going to make you sound like a professional, and it's still not going to give you the sound quality you're going for.

The only way to truly achieve professional sounding guitar tones is to focus on your playing abilities. As they say, the tone is in your fingers! You can have all the best selling, top of the line equipment there is and still sound like an amateur. In order to develop a great sound and a nice tone, you have to perfect your skills. The reason some of rock music's greatest guitarists sound so good is because they are good. If you want great sound, focus on how you play and on mastering your instrument and that will take you down the path to achieving great sound.

The Sky is the Limit With Your Sexy Girl Tattoo

By Tim Croy

How do you determine what is sexy? The definition of sexy varies from person to person. While some people may argue that blondes are sexy, other people may believe that brunettes or even redheads are sexier. One fact is certainly true, however: sexy girl tattoos are very appealing.

Defining exactly what makes a tattoo sexy is difficult, but the changing personality of the tattoo culture has certainly contributed to this phenomenon. Not too long ago, people who chose to get tattoos were almost always men. It takes an assertive, rebellious woman to challenge this gender boundary, and men enjoy seeing women be a little rebellious.

Many men find this rebellious streak very appealing. They desire women to be able to let their hair down, and be a bit wild and crazy sometimes. Choosing to get a sexy tattoo is a great way of showing that you are ready to have fun and are able to make up your own mind. This is the perfect way to communicate your brave, daring side to men without ever having to open your mouth.

Selecting the perfect design is one very important factor that results in sexy tattooing. Let's face it, certain artwork is simply sexier than other designs. If, however, you are set on finding a tattoo that will appear sexy to you throughout your entire life, consider a generic tattoo. One possibility is a sun that circles your nave, or a plain geometric design on the lower portion of your back. Either of these tattoos will probably work well to achieve this goal.

The location is the other main component of sexy tattooing. Location, location, location, is the critical rule, just like in real estate. Sexy tattoos must be seen, but not always placed in the most obvious locations. This is perfect for attracting a man's attention, and engaging him in interesting conversation.

One of the most popular places is the lower back. Women choose this part of their body for many reasons. Men are naturally attracted to this area, because it is curvaceous and covered in smooth skin. Men are already looking, and a sexy tattoo will only hold their interest.

Consider another attention-getting alternative, such as getting a tattoo on your hip. Surprisingly, ankles, which many women fail to perceive as erogenous, are also a great place to get a tattoo.

Whichever design or location you decide on, don't forget that sexy girl tattoos are involve much more than mere ink. The attitude is the primary important factor. Therefore, when you finally select a design and get tattooed, display it with pride - and a little attitude too!

Acoustic World - Tone Woods of Acoustic

By E Walker

Tone woods.

Believe it or not, your sound is only as good as your wood. Each wood has a very distinct sound that is individual to every acoustic guitar. Like a finger print, it cannot be recreated, even if another piece of wood is taken from the same source.

This is due to the wood's unique characteristics. Perhaps there are knots in the wood, or a slightly different grain pattern. Maybe there are some other subtle differences but in the end, it all affects how the wood resonates. Resonate is a fancy word for vibration, which is what wood does when you attach strings to it.

How freely the wood resonates will affect your volume (how loud you are) and your tone as a result of that. This explains why that plywood (laminate) guitar sitting in the pawnshop or music store doesn't sound that great: The wood is too stiff to vibrate freely.

That's why you may frequently hear the saying "Solid top". While that may sound great in a sales pitch, the reason it's actually important is that it's real wood, not plywood. This transforms your tone to give you a much nicer sounding guitar.

Before the wood actually gets to your guitar, it undergoes quite a few steps. First off, most tone woods are either industrially logged. This is common for many production model guitars. Still sounds great in most cases, but there are some imperfections.

Higher end guitars have their wood hand selected. It is usually cut by hand and the select chunks are chosen for quality and then shipped back to home base for further processing.

Most manufactures of decent acoustic guitars season their woods for a period of time. This removes excess moisture and hardens the fats, oils, murr (gum), and other sticky googy things that are naturally found in wood. This seasoning protects the wood from warping and prepares it structurally for the building stage.

From that point, a piece of wood is then book matched. This is the process where one single cut of wood is sliced into two pieces. This forms two identical pieces of wood, which can then be used for the front or back of the guitar. That explains why you have that line running down the back of your guitar (it's usually white). That line just covers up the seam.

Now, onto the woods. Here are some of the neatest and powerful woods out there:

Spruce - Spruce is an extremely strong wood, which is important for building a guitar. It offers some very nice crisp highs and a much more powerful volume. Great wood choice. Used on the majority of guitars.

Cedar - Slightly more mellow than Spruce and has a very warm feel to it. It has a beautiful glow and is aesthetically pleasing.

Maple - A great all round wood that offers a good balance of highs, mids and lows. This is something that many guitarists desire for an all round good projection and clean sound. However, because of this equal balance, it can also sound quite flat for the acoustic world so it's often used on electrics. It is highly desired for it's beautiful grain and lusture.

Koa - Known for it's high range, Koa is known for it's solid tone. It doesn't have a good bass response but makes up for it in the high end of the dynamic sound spectrum.

Mahogany - Great projection and nice treble. The flatpickers dream when combined with the dreadnaught body type because it offers such a great response and tone.

Brazilian Rosewood - This wood is probably the most wanted piece of wood for guitars in the world. It's becoming increasingly rare as it's becoming extinct, therefore jacking up the price tremendously. It offers a huge bass response with nice treble and mids. Unfortunately, most only come on limited edition guitars that are at the top end of the price spectrum.

Indian Rosewood - The more popular alternative to Brazilian Rosewood and is far more accessible. Has virtually the same tonal characteristics, just not as powerful. It's used on most professional guitars.

Cocobolo - My personal favorite! In my humble opinion, it takes many characteristics from the above woods and combines them to form a truly unique sound. It produces a great bass, awesome volume and phenomenal overtones. This wood will most likely be on my next acoustic. I suggest you do the same.

...Keep in mind that there are many, many more species of tone woods available to you. There are also some great subtypes of the above woods. For example, Taylor guitars use Sitka Spruce on many of their models and limited edition guitars. It's in the family of spruce, but offers something different.

In the end, the above comments are extremely subjective. While I have played many of the woods mentioned above, my ear likes things that your ear may not. The only way to find out is to hunt them down and try them for yourself. Many companies use the above woods listed, so it shouldn't be extremely difficult.

Guitar Secrets Revealed - Shred Effortlessly On A Guitar

By E. Walker

There are a ton of theories floating around in the guitar player community about the secret to improving your guitar playing speed. Most of these theories are based on some sort of half truth, but a good part of the time these theories are nothing more than myths and really offer no help to truly improving a person's playing ability or their speed and style. One of the biggest myths out there about achieving faster playing speed is that you can't play fast with thick strings and high action. Most of the proponents of this particular guitar playing myth say that in order to be able to make your fingers fly across the fretboard, your strings have to be thin and the action in the strings needs to be low.

The reason this is a myth is because in reality, thinner strings and lower action do not at all make it possible for you to play faster, or better. Thin strings and lower action just reduce the amount of resistance you get when you play. This makes the notes easier to hit, but does nothing for the quality of your tone, nor for your speed and skill. It just makes making noise easier.

Playing with thin strings doesn't take an individual who is still an amateur and make them into a guitar master, even if they play faster. What it really takes to be able to play faster isn't lightning quick fingers, at least not at first. The key to successfully mastering speed and any part of guitar playing is accuracy and clarity. Let me repeat this once again. The key to successfully mastering speed and any part of guitar playing is accuracy and clarity.

A lot of people who get into playing the guitar immediately want to jump into learning how to play fast, and forget all about accuracy. It doesn't matter how fast you play if you always hit the wrong notes and play sloppily. The problem is people tend to put a higher value on how fast you play, rather than on how well you sound when you play. Accuracy is the key to developing fast fingers. Learn how to play all your scales and chords, master them and their positions on the fretboard, slowly at first. Then after you have them committed to memory, start working on speed. By doing this you will develop into a very well rounded player and will be able to play lightning fast solos with pinpoint accuracy and clarity.

Another great tip for aspiring guitarists to improve accuracy and speed is to use guitar backing tracks. Practicing your solos and your speed techniques can be made even more beneficial when you can play along with an entire band of musicians. Guitar backing tracks provide you with a whole band to back you up while you play and help you to develop your skills while learning how to play with other musicians.

Lead Guitar Transposition Tips and Techniques

By Eugene W

Every so often, we decide to dive into a new aspect of playing guitar that many are either afraid of, or just simply have no idea what it's all about. We're going to tackle one of the more feared issues evolving around guitar... Transposition.

Join us as we teach you the most simplistic and easy ways to transpose your music.

Getting That Riff In Your Favorite Key!

How many times have we composed a riff that we absolutely love, or perhaps found a song that we really enjoy playing and wanted to put it into a new, original song and truly make it ours? Chances are that we've all wanted to at least try it out once or twice but always came across one roadblock... Keys.

As mentioned in our last article, the probability that two riffs will be in the same key is very low if you are writing a lot of songs or wish to link two well known songs together. This is where you need to transpose one of those riffs so you can connect them together and put them in that song.

Another scenario is that you just wrote an awesome riff that you envision going into one of your band's songs... The only problem is that it's in the wrong key! With transposing, you can still use that riff and play along with the rest of the band.

If you're a true band nerd, like myself, you have probably been around transposition since the days of Jr. High or Middle School. Now, if you're still like me, you didn't have two clicks on how to do it either. I was always amazed to see how my teacher would take a trumpet part and transpose it so I could play it on my sax and still be in the right key!

With guitar, this is invaluable. You can take a sax part and transpose it to your guitar. If you happen to have a sax player around, you can now play along with that sax and still be in the proper key.

One of the most unique things about playing guitar is that we have a number of tools available to us to use for easy transposition. Many other musicians envy us for this and call us cheaters in the game of music theory, however, if you can use it... Why not?

The tools that you can use.

One of the most common tools used to transpose music on the guitar is the capo. The capo is essentially a piece of rubber that is glued onto two pieces of metal with a spring placed in between. When clasped onto the neck of your guitar and placed behind a fret, it acts as a new nut (AKA the "zero" nut.) This new nut raises the pitch of your guitar, therefore changing the key.

Most guitarists use them so they can make really complicated chords into easy open chord shapes. This is where the whole joke about cheating comes in. Instead of actually practicing those really hard chords and getting your technique down, you can transpose that chord using the capo and turn it into an open chord shape such as an E Major or an A and still have the same chord.

While I don't recommend that you always do that because it's always good to know how to play a song if your capo breaks, it's great for live performances where you want to minimize the risk of messing up a complicated chord. If you're a lead guitarist, you can still use a capo but in all honesty, it's far easier to find the key that everyone else is playing in relative to the capo and just use the scale that suites the song best.

In most cases, it's actually quicker for a lead guitarist not to use a capo and just find a scale. Switching a capo around the neck of your guitar can cost valuable seconds between songs.

Improve Your Lead Guitar Playing Skills

By Eugene W

Join us as we take a deeper look at some tips that can help you to improve your lead guitar playing skills. We will discuss different methods of achieving better speed as well as the benefit of playing along with guitar backing tracks.

When most young individuals take up guitar playing they usually have one goal in mind, and that is to be a rocking lead guitar player who sets their fans' ears ablaze with their lightning fast solos. A large majority of serious guitarists have the talent and dedication to practice and to grow as musicians and often become excellent lead guitar players. However, some guitar students may not have the kind of patience or resources available to help them grow in their techniques and to achieve their dreams of being a great lead guitar player

There are a lot of different tips and tricks available out there that can help you improve your lead guitar skills and techniques. One of the most basic tips for improving your skills is to watch how you hold your pick and how you actually pluck your strings. This can have a dramatic impact on how the harmonics on your guitar are played out. For instance, it's better if you don't have a lot of the pick sticking out from your fingers, but instead have your fingers closer to the edge of the pick. Doing this will help you to bring out the sweet harmonics of the notes you hit, especially on a distorted guitar.

One of the most common aspects of playing lead guitar is learning how to develop a stronger hand so that you can play faster. Playing fast is an important part of being a lead guitarist, but there are a few things you should know before trying to improve your speed. One of the most important lessons to learn is that speed is useless without hitting the right notes. It's better to perfect a scale you're learning slowly, and then work on increasing your speed.

Another great tip and trick that has helped a lot of guitarists master the craft of playing lead guitar is playing along with guitar backing tracks. An individual playing along with guitar backing tracks can greatly improve a variety of different skills and abilities as well as the enjoyment of practicing along with an entire band.

Practicing your lead guitar skills to backing tracks for guitar also helps you to improve your speed and your improvisation techniques. These guitar backing tracks provide you with structure and help you to adjust to playing lead on top of another guitar playing rhythm. These guitar backing tracks can also be useful for doing gigs and playing live, which also is a great help to improving your skills.

A Unique Way Of Playing Your Guitar - Guitar Lessons

By Eugene W

Looking at your sound, the other way around

This awesome article is going to blow your mind and challenge you to reach new heights with your guitar. We encourage you to try new things that you may have never thought of before

Have you ever felt like you've been playing in a box and you keep getting that same old sound that everyone else already seems to have? Today is the day that you can change the way you think about playing your guitar for the rest of your life as we take a look at altered tunings.

Who ever said that we had to play in the same tuning for the rest of our lives? The fact of the matter is that altered tunings can give you a tone that's simply unmatched by standard tuning and virtually impossible to achieve if you don't use those altered tunings.

We're going to show you how altered tunings work, why they are so effective, how you can tune to them using your standard tuning, and what you can play using them! That's enough information to keep you going for a year!

Tunings That Keep You Swooning...

Why new tunings are cool.

These has been a lot of talk about getting yourself out of the trap that many guitarists typically fall into at one time or another. The solution to pulling yourself out of that ditch varies from person to person but for me, altered tunings have helped me grow as a musician.

Believe it or not, even the editor of a guitar site can get into the same monotonous groove over and over again. Recently, I started playing in other tunings other than standard. As a classically trained guitarist, I was very much bent on standard tuning because theoretically, everything you need to get the sounds you want is there.

However, what I have learned in recent months is that it's not necessarily what you can do with standard tuning, rather, what tones and chords you can't get by using it all of the time. Alternative tunings offer a new, and often easier method of playing chords and a very rich tone that is unmatched.

I mention chords for an important reason. You may have noticed that the guitar isn't laid out in a fashion that allows for easy access to every single chord combination. According to theory we can achieve incredible sounding chords but the problem is having the technique to stretch that far. Some of those chords are often impossible for any of us to play. Tuning your guitar to different tones bridges that gap between theory and technique, allowing us to play new chords.

Altered tunings involve playing around with the notes that your guitar is currently tuned to. For example, standard tuning is what you're probably tuned to at the moment and your six strings from top to bottom are tuned to the notes E, B, G, D, A, E. An altered tuning will use different notes in our musical vocabulary and replace the notes in standard tuning.

There's really an unlimited array of alternate tunings to choose from because you can tune your strings to form any chord you wish. For example, tuning in open g will allow you to play a G chord simply by strumming your strings without any fret work!

You could do this with many other chords to get a lot of new sounds. These sounds form the building block for new music to be formed and is a lot of fun to explore with. Later in this lesson, we'll play around with new ideas evolving around using chords as your open tuning.

How you can achieve them without a tuner.

One of the many reasons why people choose not to tune their guitar using alternate tunings is simply due to the fact that they don't know how to tune their guitar to those notes. If you have a tuner that simply is made for standard tuning, you'll find that it's very inaccurate to use. You'll want a chromatic tuner for any alternate tunings you may wish to use. However, a much easier method is learned by the notes on your guitar neck.

Shred Like Guitar Legends - Improve Your Playing Speed

By Eugene W

Take a look with us now as we delve into tips and tricks for improving your guitar playing speed and for some practical knowledge on effectively using metronomes and other helps to improve your practice sessions.

Most aspiring guitar players today fill their heads with dreams about moving their fingers effortlessly across their fretboards with lightning quick speed and accuracy that leaves minds rocked and speakers blown. There have been a few guitarists throughout the ages of rock that have been born with an almost supernatural understanding and talent for the guitar, but that isn't the case for most musicians. Learning to be a master of shred requires a lot of hard work, dedication, sweat, bloody fingertips, and patience.

There is a lot more to mastering speed than having a good sense of rhythm and a well-trained ear. You have to be willing to put in the time to practice, and to practice hard. If you want to learn how to blaze solos and belt out face melting guitar solos, you have to be dedicated to learning and putting into practice all you learn.

One method of improving your guitar playing speed is to use guitar backing tracks. Guitar backing tracks can help you improve your speed by playing along with other instruments in a set tempo. This can help you to take what you already know and work on perfecting those particular skills.

It is of the utmost importance to remember that one picks up speed picking by using your wrist rather than wriggling your fingers back and forth. Eddie Van Halen calls this Fan picking. Another excellent tip for improving guitar speed involves practicing with a metronome. It is important to remember that before you can practice with a metronome to help you develop speed, you must first learn the technique and scale at your own speed. After you have mastered it at a comfortable level, you can now move on to practicing to a metronome, set at whatever tempo you'd like. Slowly increase the tempo, a little at a time and practice till you are comfortable before moving up the speed. Never, ever push beyond what you can achieve as that will demoralize yourself. Take it one step at a time.

For speed, it is necessary for guitarists to develop new skills with the right hand - quickly alternating the pick stroke upwards and downwards (variable stroke). The quicker the right hand can make these alternating strokes, the quicker the playing will be.

It is necessary to begin from the most standard tremolo (fast recurrence of one note). Triplets are the most effective way of learning to play a tremolo. Try to begin each of your lessons with a tremolo. It develops (and warms up well) the right hand. The tremolo notes must sound dynamically equal (all notes sounding of equal loudness) and with equal tempo.

It's important to remember that a crucial aspect of developing speed is to first develop accuracy. Learning to play fast means nothing if you aren't playing the right notes, and if you aren't playing the right notes cleanly. If you can train yourself through much practice to be as flawless as possible in your accuracy, you will be able to easily improve your playing speed.

When you've got your picking speed up, then you can look into worrying about the left hand notes, although this pattern fits quite well into the major scale at higher speeds. It is important to have fun every step of the way.

Many lead guitarists desire to be able to dominate the guitar and to shred like some of the legends of rock music history. Think EVH, Satriani or Eddie Johnson. If you have the determination, the drive, and the willingness to dedicate yourself to consistent practicing and learning, you will go pretty far, and may even accomplish your dreams.

Key Tips to Mastering the Guitar And Playing Great Solos

By Eugene W

Take a trip with us as we examine at a few key tips for learning how to master the guitar. You'll learn how playing clean with no effects improves accuracy. Learn how to get the most out of practice sessions with backing tracks for guitarists, as well as a few principles to apply to guitar practice.

Every aspiring guitarist who picks up a guitar has the ultimate goal in mind of being able to just pick up their guitar and blaze a solo, leaving impressed friends and family in a state of awed shock. The problem is that most people do not put in the effort that is necessary in order to master their instrument because they desire instant gratification. Although guitar is one of the most difficult instruments to master, anyone can do it if they put in enough dedication, effort and time and have a true passion for creative musical expression.

There are a few tips that are the key to unlocking success when it comes to guitar mastery. One of the most basic tips to playing the guitar is to put in the time to practice, practice and practice some more. As elementary as it may seem, a lot of people simply fail and give up the guitar because they expect instant results without putting in any work. There is simply no formula for overnight success. Practice takes time, effort, passion, and work. There is not a single great guitar player in the history of music that didn't sacrifice a lot of time to practice their guitar. Guitar legends are made, not born. Some would practice for five to eight hours a day. This doesn't mean that you have to practice that long every day, but you definately have to give more than ten minutes of your time if you want to see any real results.

Another great tip for mastering the guitar is to take it slow at first. This means that playing fast is put to the side for awhile. Take your time perfecting your chords and learning them. Learn all your scales, commit them to your mind, master these fundamentals first, and then you can begin to build on your speed. It's important to remember that playing fast is not as important as playing with accuracy.

One tip for mastering accuracy and clarity in your playing is to play your guitar clean. Playing your guitar clean means no distortion and no effects. By practicing your scales and chords without distortion, you will have to play the notes clean and accurately in order for them to sound good. This will push your style and accuracy to the next level as you're learning new techniques and scales.

An excellent tool to allow you put into practice all that you have learned is guitar backing tracks. These tracks are great for helping you take what you have learned and use it alongside other musicians. It makes guitar practice so much more entertaining and keeps your motivated! These guitar backing tracks are like practicing with an entire band, and will help you develop timing and rhythm during lead sections. They are excellent for helping you tap into your creativity and apply what you have learned to creating excellent lead parts.

There are a lot of different ways of learning how to play guitar, and all of them are important and crucial for the mastery of the instrument. Most people learn to play by using sheet music, or tablature, and this is definitely a necessary skill to learn for growth and development. There is something that a lot of guitarists may not take the time to learn, and that is playing the guitar by ear.

It's very important to develop a good ear, along with learning how to read music. Learning to play by ear will give you a greater depth of understanding about guitar and how music sounds, and will also help you to identify chords and scales you hear musicians using without needing the sheet music for that particular piece.

In order to begin learning how to play the guitar by ear, you need to have a basic knowledge and understanding of music. This doesn't mean that you have to be a master at reading sheet music, but that you should understand some of the basics of music theory. Some basic knowledge about chords, chord progressions, and how chords and scales work together will be very helpful in learning how to play the guitar by ear.

Another important skill you'll need to develop when learning to play the guitar by ear is patience. Learning to play by ear can be very difficult and time consuming; it requires a lot of practice. In order to perfect your sound, you'll have to repeatedly play the same chords, riffs, and solos time after time. This may seem tedious at times, but the results are well worth the effort you put into practicing.

One of the greatest resources available to help you fine tune your ear is to play along with your favorite CDs. Dig out some of your favorite albums and begin to learn how to play the songs you like on those CDs. One of the greatest ways to learn is to mimic the guitar legends you idolize. By playing along and trying to copy their sound, you'll grow in your technique and also sharpen your ear. Type of Pickups for Acoustic Guitar and Sound Projection

By Eugene W

Pickups.

The pickup was the core ingredient that made the electric guitar possible. Now manufactures have transformed the acoustic world by introducing pickups that allows that beautiful acoustic sound to be amplified.

Every year we are left in awe with the new technology being developed and think, "How could they out do this?" Yet they constantly rise the bar higher. The top systems that have been introduced over the last three to four years are here to stay.

While the models may be refined again and again, I think we're just getting started down a new path to acoustic amplification.

We're going to take a snapshot at some of the most popular pickups released by various manufacturers over the last few years. Lets get started.

The Expression System (Made by Taylor Guitars) - This is one of the most innovative pickups systems on the market today. Far too often the sound of your beautiful acoustic is altered when put through amplification and Taylor set out to put an end to that.

It uses a system of sensors strategically located in the neck, and two in different areas within the body. These sensors are known as "Dynamic String Sensors". They measure string vibrations throughout the body and convert them to an electric signal which is then transferred to the preamp. In short, it uses a contact pickup system.

The reason why the ES produces such a natural tone is due to it's multifaceted approach to the electronic placement. There isn't just one specific area around the sound hole being covered by a mic, rather, the entire body and neck.

Now you can shape your sound via three discrete knobs. The truth of the matter is that you may not want to use them because the guitar sounds so good on it's own.

I haven't seen another pickup system quite like this, nor do I anticipate to see one to match it for quite a while. Go check them out for yourself and hear the difference.

Piezo System - This is an under the saddle pickup that consist of a strip of piezo electric crystals that line up below the strings. These pick up the vibrations and transfer them into an electric signal. They are generally used by manufacturers in student level instruments but some companies have taken them to a new level.

Fishman and L.R. Baggs are examples of companies that have used piezo technology to produce decent sound quality.

The number one complaint associated with these pickups is that they sound extremely bright and have a verily weak output volume. It's a great choice for anyone who wants to keep things simple and relatively cheap. You'll have to spend some time working on your tone but you can compensate by using a few different pedals and making use of a sound board.

Aura System (Made by Martin) - I really like the ingenuity of this pickup system. Martin combined the best of two worlds to create something known as the "Aura system". In reality, it's just a form of a blender that uses an actual mic and the piezo element to produce a more natural sound.

I use Martin as the example here because they did a great job. However, there are feedback problems with these pickup systems that can jeopardize your gig if you're not paying close attention.

The condenser mic in and of itself is nice but doesn't add a tonne of color until you mix in the saddle pickup. While that's my personal opinion, many other guitarists seem to agree with me.

Magnetic Soundhole Pickups - These pickups are modeled after the electric guitar. They look like electric pickups and function in the same way. The good news with these pickups is that feedback is rarely a problem.

The bad news is that they look awkward and you'll have a cord hanging from the side of your guitar unless you get a jack put onto the end of your guitar. That's kind of a bummer because it costs more money to put in a jack. However, if you're looking for something cheap and affordable, this may be a great option for you.

Sound projection.

Every acoustic model has it's own body type. Some are smaller in stature, some are larger, and some fall in between. They all have different size curves and details. While they may have these curves and shapes in the same places, the size of the guitar combined with these curves produces a very unique tone known only to that individual instrument.

When playing various guitars, it is relatively easy to hear how an acoustic guitar's physical dimensions project, contour and balance the tone it produces. Through the generations there have been a few model shapes that have stuck around.

While different companies make slight adjustments on the various models, they still resemble the classic shapes to some degree. Here are the four most common shapes available on the market today and a description of the sound they produce.

Dreadnaught - Made famous by Martin guitars, the dreadnaught earned it's name from the great British battle ships of World War I. Very nice all around tone with pronounced bass response and great treble tone. This model is slightly chunky but many prefer it over any other due to it's pallet of tones.

Jumbo - If you thought that the dreadnaught was big, it doesn't have anything on the jumbo. Introduced by Gibson, the jumbo has been first choice for many of the artists in Nashville. It's considerably louder and has a very deep tone. Treble can get lost on a six string due to being over powered by the bass. However, when you slap on 12 strings, you get a wider range of frequencies, making for a very well balanced guitar. That's why you'll see many jumbos serving as 12 strings.

Concert - The smallest shape. Great for the stage as you can control feedback issues and have a tighter handle on your fretboard. Every time your body gets smaller, you loose certain frequencies. In this case, the guitar sounds on the higher end of the spectrum because the bass tones don't come out that well.

Auditorium - The bass is slightly less pronounced on this guitar. You also lose some volume. The bass aside, the only real difference that separates this shape from the dreadnaught is size. This guitar is far more cozy and controllable.

Jazz Improvisation Captures the American Spirit

By Howard Brule

Jazz is an original American form of music. Some believe it was first played in South America, but there's no question it was developed into a distinct and mature genre in the United States. It has developed into a popular and relevant part of American music. In the early history of jazz it was greatly influenced by blues music. In the late twentieth century jazz was an important and popular form of music enjoyed initially by African Americans in the southern U.S. and honed to a fine art in cities up and down the Mississippi River.

The music that was called jazz was popular in many countries, including the United States. At the same time it quickly spread to many countries in Europe, and then to many parts of Asia, South America and Australia.

What makes jazz unique? Among other things the unique features of Jazz include 'blue notes," improvisation and syncopation. Jazz relies primarily on the spontaneous expression of the musicians - usually playing in small groups - and does not necessarily use a written score. The 1930s saw a rapid rise in the popularity of jazz. Although black musicians dominated the jazz scene, the 1930s saw an increase in the number of white jazz singers and players. But during this time jazz still remained true to its roots and to the African-American blues musicians who created it.

Jazz is a music of the world. It combines classical, popular and traditional American music with important strains of European and African musical traditions. Jazz is very technically sophisticated while still remaining spontaneous and improvisational. To really develop a good understanding and appreciation of jazz it is important to experience all aspects of the music, listen to the masters and join other musicians in playing. Jazz is truly a group experience.

Self expression through the use of improvisation is an important component of jazz music. Improvising in the unique jazz way is a special skill which a musician can only acquire through exposure to other jazz musicians, while interacting with others musicians in a typical jazz "combo". Jazz is even difficult to practise without knowing how the individual parts interact with each other.

Obviously it is better for a musician learning how to improvise to begin with simple songs. Learn some basic techniques by experimenting, listening to other musicians, or taking a few lessons. Then apply those simple techniques in a more advanced way to more complicated songs. But remember, as a jazz musician it is not as much about technique as it is about self-expression.

Start experimenting by playing the music the way is written, but occasionally modifying certain phrasings and adding a few embellishments of your own. This is a great way to become comfortable with jazz improvisation. This process of "intentionally messing up", and learning what sounds good is not just for piano or guitar, but can be applied to any of the hundreds of instruments used in jazz.

Immerse yourself in jazz music by listening to both contemporary and traditional jazz masters. There are also schools of musical instruction that specialize in teaching jazz, jazz improvisation, jazz soloing, and many other facets of the discipline. If you are serious about playing jazz music, one of these jazz schools might be the most direct way to get your career as a jazz musician going in the right direction.

One of the richest, most expressive and satisfying genres of music for the musician looking for creative expression is, without a doubt, jazz. It creates a magic which cannot be expressed in words. When people are really interested in actually listening to the music, jazz can be the most appropriate and entertaining type of music you can choose for almost any occasion. Being equally challenging and rewarding for the musician - what could be better than that!

Tattoos for Women: Growing Up, Not Growing Old

By Tim Croy

If you believe everything you see in the media, you might think that no one over the age of 25 has a tattoo. Many of the young, hip celebrities on news shows and magazine covers are tattooed, and it's easy to assume that their older counterparts are not. But if you take a closer look, you'll see that tattoos for women are just as prominent.

Tattoos are a wonderful way to remain young at heart. Everyone has regrets from the wild days of their youthful past, but everyone has also done things that they want to remember forever. What better time than the present for those of you who delayed getting tattoos when they were younger?

As women grow older, they mature intellectually, too. They make more responsible decisions and think about people other than themselves - especially their families. One great way women can show their devotion to a spouse or child is to get a tattoo.

Just like deciding to marry or bear a child, getting a tattoo is a decision that will remain with you for life. For this reason, tattoos are an excellent complement to one of these relationships. Tattooing your husband or significant other's name on your arm is a prominent display of commitment to him or her, and is akin to wearing your heart on your sleeve.

If you've got children, you know that there's nothing quite like a mother's love for her children. Nothing can ever erase that love, and nothing can ever erase a tattoo. So when you get a tattoo that proudly shows your child's name, you are telling the world how proud you are and how much you love him or her.

Being a woman involves much more than just making sacrifices for others' well-being, however. This is a perfect way to advertise your dedication to another person, but you can also use tattooing as a way to indulge yourself. If there is a special memory, or date, quote, or place that you never ever want to forget, tattoo it on your body!

Or maybe you're feeling the pressure of age, and you want to reclaim a little bit of the rebellion and freedom of carefree youth. There is no better symbol of this than the tattoo, which can be a powerful image of being young at heart.

Tattoos for women are as unique as the women who get them. Because your individual experiences have changed your life completely, you can use tattoos as a way to relate the amazingly unique story of your life.

Unlimited Anime Downloads for Serial Anime Lovers

By Davion Wong

The way Japanese style animation, or what we have come to know as "anime", has impacted on the lives of its many fans is easily ignored and disregarded by many over the world. However, should you ever reward one anime lover with unlimited anime downloads, you will be able to see for yourself just how much affinity these anime fans-hobbyists, like most people over their own quirky preference-have for the entirety of the culture that anime has created.

Anime fans that enjoy watching anime series will obviously enjoy downloading the latest anime series and watching them before everyone else. This makes unlimited anime downloads, either on subscription or lifetime membership, the perfect present for that anime aficionado. This will allow your recipient to enjoy all these anime downloads for free, and will likely be extremely useful if the recipient is a teenager who may still not be able to afford getting services like this on their own.

While many sites offer subscriptions for unlimited anime downloads, the service they offer may not always be comparable. Thus, be sure to check the comprehensiveness of their selection and the rate at which they upload new, updated material. Check also if the site offers high quality anime copies and excellent technical support to its users. It is also may be of use to check if the site offers the capacity to convert from one file type to another to better suit the software configuration of each user's individual video player.

Because part-time subscriptions to unlimited anime downloads are much cheaper, many might get tempted to just get these. However, further consideration is necessary. Once these part-time subscriptions expire, the anime fan who uses the site will have to continue paying subscription fees and funneling money into the site to be able to continue using it. This, when they don't have the capacity to pay, may be extremely frustrating and disheartening.

It is for this reason that lifetime subscriptions for unlimited anime downloads may, in the long run, be much better value for money. For a one-time subscription fee and no subsequent surcharges, the anime fan who receives your present will get to enjoy downloading and watching his or her favorite anime series.

While a lifetime subscription sounds pretty expensive, it really isn't. Some websites offer unlimited anime downloads for even less than $50. Getting alternative presents at the same price may not have the same impact as giving a download subscription to an anime fan.

Should unlimited anime downloads be completely out of the budget, anything related to anime (like toys, dvds, or other merchandise) and Japanese culture will also do the trick. However, these are most likely going to pale when compared to lifetime access to one's favorite anime videos, or downloading the newest ones fresh online.

Find out from my entertainment blog where you can access to unlimited anime downloads today.

Creating Your Own Guitar Playing Style

By Eugene W

Learn how to manipulate and mold your sound into something that will set you apart from the rest of the crowd. We'll reveal some great ideas on how you can make some simple changes that will give you a very unique style.

Being Yourself. Who are you?

We all remember a point in time where we wished we had the talent and the sound of another guitarist. For many of us, this comparison takes place on a daily basis and can either drive us to work harder or bruise our self-confidence. Unfortunately, the end result usually concludes with us feeling slightly depressed and envious. We fail to realize our own potential and ability to create our own sound.

The harsh reality is that 95% of us will never sound like our heroes. Why? Simply because we don't have the time, the money, or their brains. That may sound cruel, but it's actually a good thing when put into the context of our own playing. Anyone can pick up a tab book and play a song but it takes a true guitarist to make it their own.

If you take a moment to examine some of your guitar heroes now, you'll find that they created their own style that made them famous by integrating various techniques from other guitarists and fusing them together. Many also took the core idea of a few different genres and combined them to create what would then become a new style.

Some great examples of such players include the likes of Santana, Jimmy Page, Jeff Beck, Kurt Cobain, Pete Townshead and many more. You may be asking yourself why I mentioned money as one of the reasons that the majority of us will never sound like the players I have pointed out.

While you can emulate many of those tones, it's hard to duplicate them perfectly because they own thousands of dollars worth of gear.

However, don't be discouraged. With some simple fixes and a few innovative ideas, you'll be well on your way to creating a new style and tone that will make you shine.

Listen.

Before you embark on your journey to creating your own unique style, I highly recommend you look through our past articles and do some research. Don't be afraid to try new styles and genres to see which ones you enjoy the most.

Do some searches for diverse styles of music on Google. Another great resource is billboard.com. They have charts of the latest top songs that will give you an idea of what's available to you in modern terms. A trip to your local music store will also help you out immensely.

From that point, make a list of your favorite artists from these various genres. Try to seek out the similarities and differences. Ideally, you should listen for the little things that you like most. That could range from a certain way an artist strums, to how they move their fingers across the fretboard to create a certain effect.

Take the traits that you really like from these artists and combine them. Everyone has their own touches that they add and how you use them is up to you. It won't happen overnight but with practice and patience, you will find your groove. The end result will produce a style that reflects you and the music you love.

Look at the pros.

Taking the above tip to a higher level, let's look at some professional guitarists and the music that they play. Many come from varied backgrounds, which is what makes them unique. Perhaps seeing some genres that these familiar names are associated with will assist you in choosing some different styles.

David Gilmour (Pink Floyd)- Gilmour has been viewed as one of the most unique guitarists of the 20th century. Originally, Gilmour was a backup guitarist for the band until Syd Barret left due to personal issues. From there, Gilmour started to mould his sound into a piece of art via the use of a Strat, HiWatt amps, and a barrage of effects pedals.

How he used those effects pedals is what put his name into the forefront of style. He performs tricks that many have yet to emulate. He is truly a great guitarist to look up to.

Ritchie Blackmore (Deep Purple) - If you aspire to incorporate a nice variety of diametrically opposed styles, then Ritchie Blackmore is the man to aspire to be like. Blackmore had the ability to incorporate country and classical music into rock guitar. This is very suiting considering he started on a classical guitar and then made the switch to electric later on.

Who inspired him? His main influences were players such as Hank Marvin and Duane Eddy, amongst many others. Perhaps you haven't heard of them but Hank Marvin was the front man for the 60's group, The Shadows.

Jimmy Page (Led Zeppelin) - Jimmy is an extremely versatile guitarist that combines numerous techniques from various aspects of playing to form his own material. He is the master of experimentation, using everything from violin bows to acoustic playing styles on an electric guitar. He has a history of using some very cool effects pedals as well, although he doesn't need them to sound good.

In fact, one of his earlier custom effects units happened to be one of the first fuzz boxes introduced to the world. It spread like wild fire amongst the world's most popular guitarists. Unfortunately, not even the likes of Jeff Beck could truly bring out its sound quite like Jimmy could.

Django Reinhardt (Quintet of The Hot Club of France) - Anyone who knows jazz knows this name. While Django was considered a gypsy guitarist, he primarily played the role of the mentor, not the one who was taking ideas from others. Over the years few have managed to replicate his lightning fast riffs and intuitive phrasing style. To top all of that off, his strumming patterns were insane!

Another neat fact about this brilliant musician is that he started his musical life by playing other instruments such as the violin and banjo. This explains a lot about the music he produced. Notes that are close together on a violin tend to be far apart on a guitar but Django broke that barrier and carried over many of those techniques. I believe his strumming style was adapted from the banjo.

I highly recommend you look into some of his masterpieces in order to test your technical ability and to grow as a guitarist. He used only two fingers to play guitar seeing as his first two were mangled in a fire.

Scotty Moore (Elvis Presley) - Moore transformed the guitar world by introducing driving rhythms and interesting chord progressions. He kept things basic and that's what made him famous. His music was compatible with Elvis because it didn't dominate the vocals and he didn't strive to be in the spotlight.

The coolest piece of gear that set Moore apart was his Echosonic amp. Only 68 were ever made in the world and he still has his to this very day. It featured an impressive built in delay system that gave him his characteristic sound. No one can beat these amps that were made by hand. Truly a rare, once in a lifetime find. Without it, Elvis wouldn't have the same sound on his records that revolutionized music history.

It's all in the fingers.

When I first started my journey in the musical world, I heard a saying that goes something like this: FIND SAYING. What allows us to have the ability to sound decent on virtually any guitar is our technique. What allows us to have great technique? That's right, our fingers!

Our fingers can be compared to soldiers on a battlefield. They are our first line of defense and set the tempo for things to come. Training them to be the best that they can be is an essential step to creating your own style. Sloppy fingers will get you no where fast in the guitar world.

Ideally, your fingers should be strong enough to handle bar chords with ease and have enough agility to navigate the fretboard with little to no difficulty. Agility and strength are key and often overlooked by guitarists because we treat fingers as muscles that are already developed.

False! Just because you may have larger fingers, it doesn't mean that they can stand up to hours on the fretboard. Not unlike an army, you must train each one individually to achieve maximum success.

The 4GB Zune Player Has Excellent Features Just Look At It

By Henry Williams

The latest 4GB Zune is having many features than the earlier model of the Zune player. It is an alternative to the customers who really want to spend less amount of money or don't want the huge storage capacity or they may want a smooth and smaller player. And it is much cheaper than the one which is released earlier. Dimensions of it are: 3.6" height x 1.63" width and 0.33" depth, its viewing screen is also smaller at 1.8".

4GB models might seem smaller in storage space than the 8, 30 and 80GB models. It can store around 1000 songs at 128kbs or nearly 25,000 Jpeg pictures or even about 12 hours of video at 512kbs playback speed. Wow! Things have changed over the years my 1992 model laptop had only 40 space, which is 100 times smaller than the 4GB Zune player.

It normally comes with many colors and also with the headphones and covers the many supported players. But only thing that you can not find is the charger for the in built battery that does not come with the device you have to buy separately. The Zune unlike the iPod has a built-in FM player in all its models. AAC, Mp3, WMA, Protected WMA (audio) and WMV (video) formats are the only formats which the Zune player supports.

And it is really shiny and small and it also cheaper to buy. The two of its main disadvantages are the video viewing area and the regular download and upload of the file from the computer. And browsing has been really easy task on this player due to the new touch pad design. If you have wireless network at home then you need not worry about connecting Zune to the system, you can directly transfer the files through this wireless function of the Zune.

The most amazing site where you can download the music, movies, videos and a lot oth
